The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Would you take Jennings in FA to fill the WR2/3 void ? Or you going WR early in the draft ?
Ideally I would do both. We need to think of what happens beyond Terry as the #1 and be trying to draft his replacement.

But IMO we absolutely have to do at least one of sign Jennings (or maybe bring back Debo) or use the #7 pick on Tate if he is there.

Rumor is he interviewed poorly, too. But that’s a rumor. Given that presser I’d say the rumor may have some legs.

I’d rather have Tyson than Lemon if the rumors are true.

I think Fields, Boston and Germie are all in that range, too.

It’s Tate and then everyone else due to injuries, character, etc.
Please tell me what’s wrong with White as a stop gap rb 1? 1500 and 9 just two years ago before TB moved towards a committee. When is the last time a Redskins/FT/Commanders back approached those numbers?

Is he the long term answer? 1 year deal says clearly not, but he’s light years ahead of what we have been trotting out there.

This isn’t at you directly either KDawg, this sentiment has been widely prevalent. It’s 2 million dollars for really good production. What’s the problem?

Yep we have multiple needs at receiver and are kind of boxed in for options. Think I’d have thrown more fully guaranteed money at Pierce to take the dilemma off the table.

I don’t think anyone has a problem with White.

He’s never rushed for 1,500 yards, though.

He’s never rushed for over 1000, and only above 650 once in four years.

So I take it you mean combined yards, which his best season was 1586 and 9 TD. His next is 1006 and 9.

He is a career 3.9ypc rusher. He’s not a great rusher. Tampa never asked him to really carry the load, either.

He’s a good football player.

He’s not a guy I want carrying the load.

I still see CB as a need, however read mixed reviews on Delane. Well maybe not mixed, more underwhelming as an early first rounder, not sure what the wider take is on him here?
There are a lot of boards that have him in the top 7 or 8

I went back and watched some more Makai Lemon. Behind Love, I think he might be the offensive selection that would help us the most THIS year. Tate may have more long term value as an outside guy. But, I think Lemon’s play style would fit absolutely perfectly with McLaurin, Aiyuk, Okonkwo, and our receiving backs. A guy that can get open quick in the slot, is solid downfield, and is extremely good with YAC.

Jayden would have two really good YAC players in Okonkwo and Lemon, a slot that can get open quickly, win against man coverage and that is good with contested catches. A downfield threat and contested catch guy in McLaurin, a route technician with solid speed in Aiyuk, and 2 backs that can pass block and catch the ball. That seems like it would be super hard to defend. And Jayden would have a LOT of reliable options.

Skillset wise I think Lemon is a clear cut #2, and only because he isn’t outside versatile (where I think Tate can be inside versatile).

But that combine interview and rumors he had odd interviews with teams… if that is true he is a pass for me. If it’s not? I’d be fine with him as long as Love isn’t there.

Agree, Lemon looks like a WR production machine to me.

Why are you crapping on 1600 total yards like it’s nothing? 4.3/carry last two years. Over 50% success rate last two years. Point is, again, who have we had better? Absolutely nobody, that’s who.

49ers McCaffrey 0 SB wins
Henry 0 SB appearances
Gibbs 0 SB appearances, Lost to BROB 🤣🤣
Cook 0 SB appearances
Achane 0 SB appearances
Jacobs 0 SB appearances
Hall 0 playoff games
Kamara 0 SB appearances
Bijan 0 playoff games
Saquon all time great season 1 SB win
Etienne 0 SB appearances
Taylor 0 SB appearances
Chubb 0 SB appearances
Walker 1 SB win

This isn’t to suggest we can’t do better than White, I know we can, but he’s being massively devalued and underrated and I just don’t know why.

Is he better as a 2? Fuck yeah. Could we win a SB with him as our 1 in a committee? Also fuck yeah.

Lemon only in a trade down for me and only if we land Aiyuk. Otherwise I’d go Tyson and would be fine taking him at 7.

Where am I crapping on him?

He’s a good football player who makes us better and is the best back we’ve had for a few years.

Van Jefferson is better than receivers not named Deebo or McLaurin the last several years, too. And I don’t want him as our primary or secondary guy, either.

White is a better player than Jefferson at his position, and he opens a lot for us (as I’ve said several times in various threads, for what it’s worth).

He signed for $2M which means he likely didn’t have a huge group of teams throwing money at him, but he is also worth much more than that.

He’s a one year deal guy, too.

So, no, I don’t want to throw all of my eggs into a guy I’m not sure is going to be here next year and isn’t a great rusher.

Brian Robinson was an 1100 / 9 guy for us a few years ago, and he wasn’t good enough.

Antonio Gibson was a 1331/10 guy for us in 2021 and he wasn’t good enough.

I think White is a better all around player than both of them, and by far our best running back now. And I like that he’s with us.

But I’m not sold he is that 1600 yard guy on a year to year basis. I think he had an awesome season for sure, though.

It’s not heat on him.

It’s I want to set a higher bar than a guy who averages 1042 yards from scrimmage a year.

He had his 1600 and then insert Bucky so how do we know he wouldn’t consistently do that? Do I think he will get 1600 here? No I really don’t. I’m just saying he should be looked upon as something more than what I’ve seen a lot suggesting he is.

I agree with you, I want to shoot higher than White, my only point is that you can absolutely WIN with White.

As far as you crapping on him, yeah that may be an over-exaggeration, projected by me because, I’ve seen so many flippant emotions about getting White. As I said my gripe wasn’t squarely at you.

White is a mid to lowish rb 1 but an elite rb 2. I think we probably feel the same about him overall.

I personally hope they draft Love, and then he’s your starter, Bill is the backup and White is the third down back, but you can use a lot of different 2 RB sets becuase both White and Love are really good pass catching options, so if you line up 2 WR, 2 RB and TE, you could easily run or pass out of that.

If they don’t draft Love, I think you’re going to see a pretty even split between Bill and White.

Bill can improve. He absolutely needs to improve with the ball not in his hands. Maybe he also improves as a runner with better vision.

I don’t see White as a 20 carry a game guy, though.

Without Love, we are firmly in a RBBC and will have to address the position next off season.

Outside of Love its not a great draft for RBs

We were in a RBBC both of the last 2 years.

Most teams are RBBC.

And of all the positions I don’t mind addressing next season, it would be RB.

I’m much more generally concerned about WR. Though if Love is there I would still take him.

I think Love is the biggest improvement we can make.

I think wide receiver is the most talent void group.

I don’t like that all of our RBs not named Bill are one one year deals, but for this season the RB group is better than the WR group.

So for me Love improves us most so he’s my top guy. But after him, there aren’t backs that would make an impact so if it’s not Love I think we need to emphasize WR.
