Fair few contracts still to be factored into that salary cap number.
Maybe.I think you are going too far back in this pull. I bet if you go back 5-10 years, the hit rate looks markedly better.
I feel, on average, today’s WR prospects are far more technical and NFL ready than they used to be back then.
I would also imagine the bust rate of WRs jumps when you go up to a certain height like 6-3 or 6-4 because of inability to separate

Couldn’t find data (well Claude couldn’t!) on just the last 5 years. I don’t think it will have changed that much (but that’s just perception)I think you are going too far back in this pull. I bet if you go back 5-10 years, the hit rate looks markedly better.

Maybe.
I just feel like a lot of WR prospects in the first round don't work out the way they are projected.
That's not statistical, it's just a gut feel.
It's not a big deal one way or the other and I'm not going to do a deep dive on it.
I think the problem is the Washington outlier.skinsinparadise and I had this convo early on during draft season. WR is relatively safe.
I doubt this played a big role in their divorce, but I always wondered if the refusal to play Hartman and go with a vet who couldn't possibly play a role in the team's future further divided the rift between Kliff and Quinn. This off-season, I'd love to see the team jettison Hartman and replace him with a QB the coaching staff actually feels comfortable putting into a game if JD5 and Mariota are both unavailable. We shouldn't have to go looking for a guy off the street, as we did with Johnson last season. If he's not good enough to play jn an NFL game, he shouldn't be on the roster.
I think the problem is the Washington outlier.
Westbrook, Gardener, Dotson, (I'm forgetting at least two) are a pretty bad group. Maybe some of 'em were servicable but none stars or as good as their draft position.
I rather doubt Quinn or Peters was jonesing to play the guy who might have had the statistical worst pre-season in the history of the league. And I don't think Kliff had to tell them it would have been a bad idea.I doubt this played a big role in their divorce, but I always wondered if the refusal to play Hartman and go with a vet who couldn't possibly play a role in the team's future further divided the rift between Kliff and Quinn.
Except at that point, who cared if we won or lost? It was the finale of a four (at that time) game season. We had more to gain by losing than winning;.I rather doubt Quinn or Peters was jonesing to play the guy who might have had the statistical worst pre-season in the history of the league. Make no mistake, I would have 100% played him. And told him to play left handed and if we won I would have his head shaved.Except at that point, who cared if we won or lost? It was the finale of a four (at that time) game season. We had more to gain by losing than winning;.
You are (maybe intentionally?) forgetting McCaffery and Lane.In a little weary of all the one year deals again.
Ford, Jefferson, Dyami, Burks, White
Chaisson.
If we get Aiyuk you can bet it’ll be on a one year deal.
I think that is one of my biggest concerns.
Our entire RB and WR room minus Terry and Bill are on one year deals.

You are (maybe intentionally?) forgetting McCaffery and Lane.
but I think that’s because the plan would be that most of those guys won’t be here next year. I’m somewhat surprised Diyami wasn’t a 2 year deal. I don’t think White wanted anything more than a 1 year deal.
They need to draft more guys. I am really starting to think they could load up at skill positions in the draft. Not only at 7, where I would love Love or Tate, but I think the universe is going to spite me, but in the 3rd and lower rounds. We might have a whole draft of skill position guys.
If we sign Aiyuk and Deebo, Lane is still safe as a really good returner. Then… who will be? More guys on one year deals? I don’t know. Not a fan of all of our skill guys being on ones.
Honestly, I’m not sure McCaffrey/Lane make the team this year. If we sign Aiyuk and Deebo I think at least one of them is gone. The other is probably safe and then we’re looking at Burks/Jefferson in a battle, too.

If we sign Aiyuk and Deebo, Lane is still safe as a really good returner.
However this group are now competing for 1 or 2 spots:
McCaffery
Burks
Brown
Jefferson
And that’s the same if we draft Tate at 7 and sign Aiyuk.
If we sign Deebo and Aiyuk, Draft Tate, then that group of 4 MIGHT be competing for 1 spot or all could be cut.
I’d personally be fine with that.
I agree it’s not ideal but it’s going to take not only a few drafts but the players in those drafts hitting to change this.
The other option was to sign Pierce or Doubs. But that didn’t happen.
Jennings is still out there I guess also and that could be multi year.
