The 2026 Free Agency Thread

I don't recall saying that about the Jets. But yeah I've said the same about the Giants. Arrogant local media. And next to Dallas, I think the national media really really wants them to be good so any little positivity gets blown up with them.

And alas I have too many people in my life who root for the Giants, where I get to hear the hype more than I'd like.
Family is from New York. Spent a lot of time there.

I added the Jets to your comments about the Giants because NY fans across the board tend to be heart on the sleeve frontrunners who always think their club's moves are the best.

White is an average 3down back. I don’t see him being any better than mcnichols. I hope he’s nothing more than a 3rd down back for us.
Quality 3rd down back that can help in pass pro and has soft hands and can move chains is something we have had trouble finding over the years.

Agree, I lived some in NJ, went to college in NY, my inlaws are from NY. Either things about their sports teams are crazy good or crazy bad. But for whatever reason the national media goes along with the narrative.

But their local media are so annoying among their wild assertions was last year during the season a Giants reporter went on about they have a franchise QB but doesn't think Washington does.

Now we need Jahmyr Gibbs to make it work… wonder who can do that kind of thing… hmmmmmmmmm….

An offense that feeds off of play action, boots.

Wonder it it would be helpful to have a RB who can catch the ball, protect and threaten a defense with homerun ability?

You don't get Love do you try to draft his teammate Price. Price is possibly the next best RB in the draft. We'd need to trade down though.

Agreed. All I am saying is Burks has greater potential at the position. Don't have the same view of McCaffrey however.

Zaccheus has been on 4 teams now, if he was that valuable per se you think he would have stuck with at least a 2 year deal somewhere.

I am looking at what multiple GMs are doing with the player.
Zaccheus has missed one game in 5 seasons. Trey Burks' health has followed the same path as Noah Brown's, which indicates we have every reason to be prepared that his future will too. A player's potential is lost if he can't stay on the field when he's needed.

It's not really a huge endorsement of Zaccheus. It's that we are fed up with fragile "potential" glass cannons.

lol... I'm rooting for Bill to make you all change your minds. I remember especially early in the season Bill looking special. I'm hoping he takes another step forward this year.
i agree . . . I think Bill is going to end up really good in this new blocking/running scheme! And white on a 1 year contract gives Bill another year to better his pass pro and receiving/route running.

No, I think if Love is gone you have to go with Tate or Downs if they are available.

True, but we didn't give up anything for Burks. We acquired him for nothing so if he turns into even a #4 here in 2026 it is a big win for us.

Meanwhile Howie Roseman and Peters determined that Zaccheus wasn't at a level where they wanted to extend his contract so I am going off what these GMs have done in re Zaccheus the past couple of years.

The guy in Chicago thought the same way evidently.

If Love is still there at #7 I will be shocked.

Skattebo is no Love.

Harbaugh knows the difference.

With a defense largely in place and a young quarterback the Giants can afford to invest in the RB position in a big way.
Plus, Giants are still probably having nightmares over losing Barkley in free agency. They want that juice back at RB in a big way. Love doesn’t get past them, but most likely will be gone before them anyway. Giants grab Downs. That leaves Tate. I think AP knows this, so he is not going to cave to any large Jennings demands.

Id say he's solidly above McN... he is actually quite a good receivee, so I'd be thrilled to have him as a 3rd down back.

I'm still all good with getting Love though.
