He runs 7-man spacing. It’s not a 4-3 or a 3-4. It’s a gap scheme that employs a player for each gap. 7-man spacing means they have 7 players responsible for 7-gaps up front.

The personnel is fairly irrelevant as it pertains to what player positions are on the field. Could have 5 DL, 2 DL, 1 DL, 6 DL. Could be a 4-2 with a safety roll. The scheme is very diverse.
 
I think the point is he was the only Washington discard that was picked up. :eclipsee-victoria:

I would actually be okay with just signing Jacob Martin and then seeing what happens in the draft. Martin would get us to 5 Edges signed (Dorrence Armstrong, Odafe Oweh, Deatrich Wise, Jacob Martin, and Javonte Jean Baptiste) and then if we drafted one high Martin and Jean Baptiste could compete for that last roster spot with the loser potentially traded for a 7th rounder.

What do you mean by not a huge deal? Are you saying you don’t think in particular will be that impactful? Or that filling that role in this defense isn’t a huge deal? Honestly would have thought you’d be elated addressing LB with a young speedy athletic guy so I’m genuinely asking.

II was actually trying to respond on YouTube but everyone keeps saying this and it may be true to a degree but it still looked like more of a hybrid 4-3 when you watched it and even the people who reported on the team called it a 4-3 at LSU and Bowie State but when he got a stud edge rusher, he switched to a 3-4

I am not as high on Chenal as many, but I do like him. In particular I think his speed and his violence are positive. But I don’t put him in the same league as Lloyd, for instance.

Still, a positive move.

Totally agree here.

Chenal is NOT a plug player for Washington, he's going to be a vital piece of the defense.

He may start? Give me a break - he's the best linebacker we have had on the team in years.

Unless Washington has LT and Carl Banks at linebacker all of a sudden in their primes, you have to be rejoicing over this signing.

Oh for sure, I'm in full agreement in a vacuum. And before we struck out I was big on trading back from #71. But the hit rate for 2nd round WR is sooooo much better (but still not good) then the hit rate for 5th round WR (which is almost 0% unless they fell due to massive off field issues, domestic violence, rape, etc).

If we don't take a WR at #7 and then don't trade up from #71 it's just that much more likely that Jayden has to throw his body away to save a play like he will do. There's a chance some decent WR prospects fall to #71, I hope they do, but you never know how the board plays out.

If they don't. We're looking at another season of Jayden flirting with dangerous play styles.

That’s the point. It’s diverse. It can be a 3-4 or a 4-3. Or a 4-2 with a safety roll. Or a 5-2 or… anything with 7 guys in the box area.
