The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Yeah, but the Jets record over the past 50 years has shown that in the end last place is still a likely destination.

I don't want Mafe. I'm ok with Oweh but don't want to over pay which I think is possible

Hate to say it but they are going to have to pay somebody. Even scrubs like Ridgeway are getting signed

So much for watching out for the Commanders and Titans in Free Agency! The Titans have signed Mitch Trubisky though, so at least they have got off the couch. Come on Adam, brighten up our Monday please!
The amount of time between Pierce's announcement with Indy and where we are now shows me that Washington didn't have a clear Option #2 to go with.

The bottom line on Tunsil - there was no guarantee he would re-sign with us, and had he not, it would've been an absolute disaster given what we gave up to get him. So that's very good news.

And if he sat it would have been a disaster. Make no mistake, there was high potential he wasn’t out there if this didn’t get done.

Taking it for granted doesn’t make it any less of a great move.

Yes, I had concerns about striking out in FA, too. But getting our LT on the field, guaranteed barring any mitigating circumstance, should not be cast aside. Even if you and others weren’t worried.

It’s a positive step 1.

exactly, and some of that 'new' money is going to hit in 2026, so that changes the salary cap room they're working with. We couldn't just jump feet first into paying people like Phillips $30mil per year and end up spending into some of the money for Tunsil.

I don't think that's true. There is a ton of competition out there for top tier talent. It's going to take some time.

It's an overpay and miss but I didn't think he'd leave the Colts based on some of what I heard this morning about how tight he was with Jones. To me its a good sign that they are swinging for the fences. Makes me think a big signing is coming.

They bid aggressively for Pierce. So, they are trying.
Your plan with this many holes has to have more than a single candidate on it.

You have to pivot and go after #2 and get something done.

Come on Boone, you know every player should feel completely honored that we would even offer them a contract, and should sign it at below fair market value because we're the Commanders.

Guess I haven’t missed anything. Peters knows it started right?

Very happy about Tunsil! KDawg can finally relax 😁

Seems like Washington with Ben Johnson and Alec Pierce is trying to date girls that are still hung up on their current boyfriends :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Looking at this logically, the Eagles were not going to be able to afford Phillips and the Chargers were not going to be able to afford Oweh. Mafe was not going to be resigned in any event.

So, in my mind DE should have been bus stop #2 after the Pierce window shut.

Look - I am not brimming with confidence in the current regime, but it's too early to be down on them today. Let's see what happens.
