Well, regardless of what they do at running back I am always in favor of upgrading the O line, even if you think it’s already good. A big part of me hopes they don’t sign a RB… leave it open for Love

They’ll sign a back, for sure. But I’m guessing they aren’t really looking at Love/the top FA backs. But we’ll see.

Yeah they will bring in another RB, probably through FA.

If it brings upgrades, I am okay with a move. It is just a little frustrating that we already had so many roster holes and questions

Maybe AP is informed by seeing schemes where low round backs play well with better scheme (O and blocking). Maybe that is the model.

I wish they would have tried to trade him. At least that is my main visible concern pending what ends up happening here.

Yes, and he could work out well for pass heavy team, he definitely worked on himself last off-season and preseason.

Another stab in the dark regarding the Biadasz release. Could AP have worked out a trade for another C that will be announced today and they released Tyler in good faith prior to the announcement

For me, the question is why release him now? I mean, I get the idea of wanting to do right by players and giving them ample opportunity to find a new home

The only thing that I can seriously think to trade would be swapping picks for a guy on the last year of a contract. I know, probably isn't it but like I said, a stab in the dark lol

Like I said, we'll have to hear something very soon to make that release make the most sense.

The only other possibility is they feel better about Allegretti.

I liked him when he was drafted. He had experience all over the line and made the line calls. I know he was strong moving and in pass pro, I don't recall how he good he was run blocking

I highly doubt they did a 180 on Biadasz in the month Blough and Stapleton took over, but it's possible. But if Blough is saying that Biadasz can't do what he needs him to do, hypothetically, why keep him, even as a backup?

You are saying that if your OC and/or OL coach are saying he can't do what he needs him to do, why keep him? Especially when these are coaches who were on staff last year.

Yes, true. The question is do we trust their evals as gospel. Also, is that always the right process (full trust to coaches, or should it be more collaborative). I am not saying I know the details of the process, but we have some observables going into y3. There were some head scratching moves that didn't help the team (Slye, a decent kicker, let go for McManus - which has led us to a horrible kicker situation). So we had a position that was OK, maybe one of few - and McManus had worked with our ST Coach at the time. It seemed pretty clear that it was one of these GM talks to coaches and coach tells GM I want player X and GM went for it.

I feel that dynamic has played out a fair amount (from some observables) maybe a bit too far. There is a line where the GM needs to have some clout and say "This guy could be better than you think" or "This is the guy we need at this spot in the draft" - if you don't have that enough, you end up with reaches and misses on BPA (you go for position over best player). I think we've seen that.

I think though, giving the benefit of the doubt for now is OK- but why not trade Biadasz? I feel he had trade value, and anytime we don't take advantage of that in our situation? Maybe we are trying to get another A+ for organization, but I'd rather start on a journey for a Lombardi at some point.
