The HC Dan Quinn Discussion Thread

Makes sense. Dan is an accomplished D coordinator, yet hands off of his own unit. But now that he's become hands on -- its an odd dynamic.

A. Working for a dude who just ran the defense and has his own great resume on that front and might not be able to resist and butt in regardless of context

B. If it goes off to a stumbiling start which it might because of the lack of talent does Quinn impinge on coaching the unit like he did this season

I'm of the impression that Quinn stepped in too late, not too quickly

I wish with every fiber of my being that the Ravens and Steelers would swap head coaches, and when they both retire, that they move to the same retirement community.

Guys, Harbaugh all of a sudden being available is not going to make the teams who already committed to their HC’s, hell did pressers with their guys, change course. Expecting that to happen is not reasonable.

A team like Miami that is hiring a GM and hasn’t decided yet on their HC, maybe it changes some things. For sure. But you aren’t going to see a professional organization do a 180 on the guy they publicly endorsed already after the regular season. It’s not happening. Not fair to expect it to

I like DQ but Harbaugh is definitely interesting. I really can’t believe the Ravens let him go. His brother was the guy I wanted when we hired DQ.

Harbaugh would be a massive coaching upgrade. That being said, I don't see any chance of that happening.

Rarely, not quite like this and it backfires all the time.

Snyder for all his faults didn't lack a penchant for dumping his current head coach hastily so that he could chase the big name coach.

I have been pretty vocal that I'm not sold on Quinn and that I would have liked serious contemplation as to whether it was time to be proactive and move on.
In my opinion that shipped has sailed, it literally sailed just hours ago with the firing of both our coordinators and the retention of Quinn but it sailed.
At this point even hiring a better coach would be a Snyder move and has the potential to explode in our face.

If Quinn chooses to continue running his system, these are the plug-and-play options. All worked with Quinn in Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas or Washington.

Morris’s second head coaching stint ended this week after consecutive 8-9 seasons in Atlanta. He may be hired this cycle for a third attempt. Part of Quinn’s staff with the Falcons, Morris served in a variety of roles with a primary focus on the secondary; he was the secondary coach in Washington from 2012-14. He resurfaced as the DC for the 2021 season’s Super Bowl champion Rams. Los Angeles ranked second in yards allowed and third in interceptions. Morris, 49, often made more with less in secondary over the next two seasons. Atlanta ranked seventh in takeaways and sixth in interceptions in 2025.

Ulbrich has served as a DC since 2020, with two stints in Atlanta – the first with Quinn – sandwiching four seasons with the New York Jets, where his unit ranked in the top 4 in yards allowed each campaign. The 2025 Falcons finished 15th in yards allowed, 19th in points, seventh in takeaways and second in sacks (57). One league source said Ulbrich would be a “home run hire” for Washington, and another source said he would choose the 48-year-old coach.
