Sadly, we will hire Raheem as DC. I guarantee it. Not something I want to happen, but it will.

I like that choice too.
A lot of good candidates out there for us to choose from.
Good year to need a defensive coordinator.
Unfortunately the cowboys will probably get a good one too.

Yes he did although Saleh probably had a lot of input. Keep in mind in 2024, Ullbrich was elevated to interim HC after Saleh was fired midseason and they still had the #3 defense.

The ATL D he just led is not that much more talented than our current defense. Their best player on defense is AJ Terrell who is considered more a top 10-15 corner than a top 5 one. If we can get him some pass rushers as the Falcons did with Walker and Pearce and get him some upgrades elsewhere, I think he is a guy that can lead at least a middle of the pack D next year.

Just keep in mind that he runs an odd front as his base package, which I don't think is a big deal because 1) you really don't have any DL you would plan around and 2) some guys already have odd front experience such as Kinlaw
 
People can 100% change. I firmly believe that. And people also grow up.

That being said, here in Tampa at least, the Bucs would be very hesitant to think about signing Raheem Morris.

He was a common sighting at the strip clubs around Tampa, and is actually the very first major coach I can remember who gave an interview to a sports publication in a bar.

Everyone is different, but do we need another Scott McCloughan? Is there no better option?
 
A hard no on Raheem in any capacity for us, though he'll land a job on somebody's team as part of staff bloat.
 
Stefanski fired and Schwartz will probably be available too. Would be nice upgrades at OC/DC. Gannon might be good too but I don't really know too much about him other than his stacked Philly defense being top 10 in yards and points and then giving up 38 to the Chiefs in the SB. Fangio did a much better job last year but his defense was probably even more stacked.

Raheem Morris was on Quinns Falcons staff for I think the entire run there and their defense was mostly average to bad. He was also the DC for the Rams SB team which was a mediocre defense with some great talent. Donald, Floyd, and Ramsey are all better than anybody on this current Washington defense, by far. He's the obvious buddy pick, and I will not be impressed at aall if so.

Hell, the Falcons current DC would be a better choice, Gannon too, and Schwartz by far better. He's Gregg Williams 2.0 pretty much.

Ulbricht had a LOT of talent on the Jets defense the past several years. I don't know how much you can draw from that in projecting him to Washington and our situation on that side of the ball.

For what its worth, I recall Logan Paulsen studying Atlanta's scheme before Washington's matchp against them and was impressed with Ulbrich.
 
Listening to Keim, I am less concerned about getting rid of Kingsbury--players like him and play for him, especially Daniels. They already lost Pritchard--and could lose Blough among others if they go with a new OC. That would be a lot of change for Daniels. I think this review is going to be around protecting Daniels, running the ball more with running backs--instead of designed QB runs--and putting Daniels in a better position to succeed. We shall see how it plays out--this could very well be smoke indicating a fire--I just don't see it.

I don't want to see it but KK is probably gone for an inferior replacement. Entirely possible they are giving Keim and Sheehan different messaging that makes Russini's language seem overstated. Not a good look to replacement OCs out there to have messaging that the GM and current OC are having issues.

So I think all parties can save some face in PR.

If he doesn't land one, that is when we would find out if they actually want to let him go or not.

OR - would they need to let him go so they can officially look for an OC (timing)?

Also, regardless of whether they want to let him go, I think he wants to leave. I don't think he was having fun this year. I mean, it was obviously a tough year, but beyond that, there was something in his actions/words that said he was kind of tired of being here. So, we'll see what happens on the HC circuit.

If they are waiting (and have decided to let him go), the team (AP and DQ) would be noncommittal on the status of the coordinators until the HC hiring is complete and it is clear he wouldn't be moving on.

Yep sense I get is it seems mutual as to wanting to go their separate ways. Assuming Stefanski gets a HC gig, I can't think of a single OC name out there that gets me more excited than KK. Maybe Daboll? The issue with Daboll is I think there is a good chance he takes Patullo's job as OC given he's been doing some consulting for them.

Atlanta this year had the 19th scoring defense and 15th in yards/game that's with 2 first round picks and other rookie contributors. He's highly regarded. Just reminds me a little of Haslett, not sure why.

I think Schwartz could do more with less, which is what we will be working with. I could be wrong, just a gut feeling. He'd be my first choice.

His ATL D finished 12th in DVOA without a single plus down lineman, two rookie pass rushers, a good green dot, a stud CB1, 2 good safeties and not a whole lot else. That’s damn impressive.

Also look at what happened to all those Jets players after Ullbrich left. They all fell off
