That was my reaction too. Sort of surprising he was able to land a HC gig but maybe that was based more on his reputation/personality/leadership skills?
 
I am not sure why Raheem got the job. They interviewed a lot of candidates.

The Falcons interviewed 14 different head coaching candidates, including Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel, and Jim Harbaugh.
But it’s Raheem Morris who ends up getting the job and returns to the NFC South, where he was once the head coach in Tampa Bay

Bellichick, we know or it was heavily spoken about at least - Kraft poisoned the well very successfully.

I wonder what happened with Vrabel. Harbaugh was a hot candidate and may have chosen elsewhere. I think the big miss by the Falcons here is Vrabel. I wonder if Vrabel withdrew.

When you interview for a position and you have enough money to wait, it's a good idea to pick a good place. Their success supports your success, just as their failures hinder your success. I am speaking generally because it's true for most careers.
 
His performance in Arizona wasn't much to write home about, even admitting Bidwill is one step up from pond scum.

I hear this said a lot - but he took them from 3 wins the year prior to his hiring to 5, then 8, then 11 and a playoff appearance in his first 2 seasons. They got knocked out in the wildcard round by the eventual SB champion Rams. His 4th season was a disaster, losing Murray to an ACL tear, losing TJ Watt for the season, and Deandre Hopkins getting a 6 game suspension. And of course he got fired. But I think he was better in Arizona than he gets credit for.

Put another way he had one good season in 4.
Maybe not terrible but not good either.
I think his biggest downfall though was his teams penchant for starting strong and petering out.
That's usually a kiss of death for a leader.

Well, I would probably describe it as him taking a very bad 3 win team and improving their record 3 straight seasons, but ...

It is fair to say his teams in Arizona generally started out very strong but faded down the stretch.

I'm not arguing he was great in Arizona, but folks talk like he was an unmitigated disaster and I don't think that's accurate.

Part of Kingsbury's issues were that his handpicked quarterback, Murray, was put in a scheme where success was based largely on his dual threat and over time his size compromised his availability.

Sound familiar?

I want to see a scheme in DC where the quarterback is able to stay upright for 17 games and run only when he has to, not because the team doesn't invest in the RB or TE positions to get the tough 3-4 yards.

No argument on that. And I suspect this may be an area of contenion with both Quinn and possibly Peters.
 
Peters was in NE, Denver and SF. I find it hard to believe he likes what he is seeing on the field in regards to Daniels carries and yardage from scrimmage - over 17 games it really isn't sustainable.
