The 1st Round Pick
I don't am not sure if everything goes our way this weekend that we can win the tiebreaker with Browns after the Falcons win last night.
Kind of crazy, we have one game since October 5 but still only in the 7 slot. There are some crappy teams out there
The easy way to look at it you want them to win
Giants
Browns
Titans
Jets
Cards
The SOS drill with the Browns is looking tougher after the Atlanta win yesterday. But if you want to root for that simply root for the 49ers to beat Seattle on Saturday night that would still I believe give them a fighting chance. If Seattle wins this, I believe any SOS hopes are over vs the Browns.
As for watching Saturday night go 49ers
Sunday 1 pm: Browns, Giants, Titans
Sunday 4 pm: Jets, Cards and of course Eagles-Washington.
As for SOS, if the 49ers win, a Titans win would be big because it likely both leapfrogs Washington over the Titans in the draft standing and also the Browns, assuming that the Patriots also beat the Dolphins.

I would place bets on any of those teams winning this week but I already blew my money on Powerball tickets, which had better odds.
I have faith in that ugly SOB Davis that he can keep his team on the losing side!

talk about a moral dilemma for Jerry Jones.. Lose the game and hurt the Giants draft profile, but you also get to display your team to the world, losing to a bottom 5 team in the NFL on Hard Knocks on Tuesday night....
I posted this in the other thread, probably has more standing here but didnt want to just move it.
So with Seattle winning that means we can't jump Cleveland right? Who can we jump assuming we lose?
I'm gonna look at cleveland's schedule and see if there's any 3rd dimension that can get us there

I am almost postiive there isn't because there is so much divisional play this week so most games involve to teams that Commanders played or two teams the Browns played so it just cancels out. Cleveland is amost definitely going to win the SOS tiebreaker.

we know for our sake, we're rooting for New Orleans and New England for SOS purposes, and NYG, NYJ, Tennessee, Arizona, and Cleveland for Record purposes.
New England, we're rooting for hard, because the Browns played the Patriots. Them winning boosts Cleveland SOS
We're also rooting for the Titans and Jets because they're above us in draft order. Cleveland played both of those teams, so them winning boosts Clevelands SOS
Cleveland also played San Fran, who lost to Seattle yesterday which is why the gap between us and Cleveland is what it is, we played Seattle so we got the boost and they got the drop.
The last teams to monitor are the Jets and Bills. We want Buffalo to lose because they are playing the Jets who are ahead of us (and Cleveland) in the draft order. Cleveland played both teams, so they would not get the benefit of change to the SOS as a Win/Loss would wash out. The only way this effects Cleveland is in the event of a Tie which is counted as 1/2 a win for both teams, or a full win for them since they played both.
Ironically enough, we have a lot of common opponents.... NFC North (GB, Det, Min, Chi), as well as Miami, and Las Vegas, so all of those outcomes have the same effect on us as it does them.
I guess when we're talking about Cleveland, our rooting interest doesn't change, it's just further reinforced with rooting for New England, and Tennessee. Tennessee winning may help Cleveland in draft position, but hurts them in SOS. Not exactly sure, to your point philibusters that there's enough there to make the difference, but at least we can hope...?

In regards to the tiebreaker with Cleveland, you can hope, but I actually do think its mathmatically impossible.
IF the 49ers beating the Seahawks created the gap then that philosophy can be applied beyond that game. They played 49ers who lost, we played Seahawks who won.
New England wins - benefits us as an uncommon opponent, Cleveland played NE, we did not - The Dolphins losing is a wash as they are a common opponent, so that essentially counts half
New Orleans wins - doesn't specifically matter as neither team played NO - The benefit here comes as Atlanta is an uncommon opponent.. they did not play Cleveland.
The Jets - If the Jets win, it actually benefits us double, by Record AND the fact that they played Cleveland... we did not.
The Titans - Again, benefits us double as they played Cleveland, we did not.
If We lose to Philly AND Cleveland loses to Cincy, the benefits are a wash because both division games count the same.
I think the math is actually there. We need 3/4 of the above to happen in order to pass them if my mental math is correct.
Of course if the Giants lose, that hurts us but doesnt hurt them. Arizona losing or winning has no effect if we're just talking about head to head SOS.
So if they can't move up then I guess I should just go ahead and root for the Commanders today right?
