It's been my go-to navigation for years now, mostly because it picks up the police. But that info is usually old and most of the time the officer is gone, but that's better than the other way around. I rarely give updates, and never have bothered to learn as I drive how I note if I come across radar. You really need 2 people for that. But now and then if the road is clear I'll hit the "still there" or "no longer there" or however it's worded.

The info can be old but at least you know one is around that area.

Yep to it taking two people to update. I don't update it when by myself but my wife loves to update it when she's with me.

I did...to the tune of about $900. I shifted all my travel about 2 weeks which was another $2,000 in airfare. Now I'm dealing with hotel reservations

Over 40 years traveling internationally to 60 or 70 countries and I've only missed one flight in my life. And that was because the hot Colombian woman I was with had extremely high stilettos

When my dad in Canada died the first thing I did when I got home was check my passport. I was proud of getting one just before he turned 80 for just this reason. I was horrified, I thought they were still good for 15 years but they changed it to 10. I could not get an emergency passport so I missed the service.

My random thought is why are twist ties universally put on the same way? I just got a sound bar and as I unpacked everything one component was wrapped with 2 twist ties, one going clockwise and the other counter clockwise.

I started donating to a local food bank. I found my retirement budget allows me to spend an additional $30 when I buy groceries. now and then. Now I don't want to act like I've always been super generous, I didn't cut checks to charities. But this I can do and I really enjoy it.

I try to bring things others don't think about. Every pantry is full of pasta and Ragu because it's cheap and filling. So I leave dog and cat food, toothpaste as well as assorted canned fruits and vegetables for healthy options. It's a lot of fun.

Express passport application and paperwork went out this morning overnight via FedEx. $900. Due to receive on 12/16-17

Changed my flight +$2000, flight 12/19

Changing my reservations at the villa in the mountains and the hotel on the beach $TBD

They have a program where if you have a death in the family you could get to the front of the line. So after an awkward call to get the death certificate the only office that could see me was in Buffalo and I would not have had the time.

Haha! Great question, and up to a few years ago, like you, I assumed the shortest day was also the latest sunrise and the earliest sunset. Right? It only makes sense. I was shocked to find out I was mistaken. AI can explain it better than I can:

The earliest sunset doesn’t coincide exactly with the solstice because of the Earth’s tilt and orbital speed (the “equation of time”).

So yeah, it's like a two week difference. Who knew? The latest sunrise isn't until Jan 4th or 5th which means it'll still be dark way past 7 AM.
