You said he’s on the hot seat. Not that he would be or might at some point be on the hot seat.

Going from 12-5 to 4-13 the very next year IS the evidence. HC have lost their jobs for less.

all had one good year, followed by a terrible year and got fired... so there is precedent
 
Nagy got fired after his 4th season with the last 3 seasons being .500 or worse.

Marrone got fired after his 5th season.

McAdoo is the only one that is a remotely analogous situation, but he had never been a HC prior to his first season in NY so that’s not really similar either.

Not trying to make a big thing about it, especially since it's off topic for the thread. I just think we need to distinguish between fact, rumors (which at least might have some basis), and speculation - which is what 'he's on the hot seat' is.
 
Was looking at our schedule and happened to notice that through 11 games, we’ve had 7 different players lead the team in receiving yards (for individual games obviously).

Even crazier considering McCaffrey never did, Brown/Ekeler (who combined for 3 such games last year) never got a chance to, and McLaurin (who lead the team 7 times last year) has only accounted for 1 this year.
 
They are not going to fire AP and DQ after this season. This ownership group really really cares about their perception around the league. Firing AP & DQ a year after a NFCG year in year 2 would be a terrible look to future GM and HC candidates.

I ballpark the DQ tenure to be 4 years
 
12-5 to 3-8 is also on the GM for not seeing the house of cards they built in Year 1.

It wasn’t sustainable and yet they brought back the same cast of characters over 30 for Round 2.

In fact we doubled down by adding more age 30 plus guys in free agency and via trade.

How many of them are hurt or on IR?

Or just reverted to the mean like Ertz after a surprise rebound in 2024?

I tend to believe this is true. Also, there is a mutual characteristic to this - learning from mistakes on both sides.

Does the organization encourage improvement and help identify and rectify mistakes? Does the individual do the same?

If you foster THAT aspect of things, you can keep almost anyone around, with patience, and it will be a place that anyone would like to come. The question is, do you have the right people in place to develop that mentality. Right now, I am not sure. I think we will find out soon.

I also do think Harris has this mentality, which ultimately means, even if it takes years, we should see a slower overall vector (at a minimum) of improvement.

The big mistake was pimping the process with short time vets and not building a solid foundation with cornerstone picks.

All the BS about Daniels contract.

Mahomes has won 2 Super Bowls after he got paid.

There’s no rush to win a SB in 2025.
 
Last year was lightning in a bottle. We made an incredible run with a bunch of JAG wideouts (plus a #2 who thinks he's Jerry Rice). The defense was bad, but the #5-led O was just phenomenal. And Kliff seemingly came back from Thailand on a mission.

What AP needs to figure out is whether this season is an anomaly, or something more systemic with the coaching. We should know by the end of next season whether there's a lot more behind going from 28-3 to a 34-28 SB loss. Another 2 full seasons should provide enough coaching space to evaluate things that have taken place in the decision-making space.
 
I would be happy to see JD play for 17 games without injury
 
My hope was that with the improved o-line, Daniels would rush at about 30% less. Now, he's gotten hurt in the pocket and on scrambles/rushes so reducing the designed runs maybe wouldn't have helped that much and his legs are a weapon, but I wanted to see him sit back there more and take fewer hits. Problem was, Ertz is probably close to what he was last year, but we have no Ekeler, OZ, Terry, Dyami, or Noah. Heck, we don't even have McCaffrey anymore and maybe not Lane. So, the expected receiving corp is down to two players so it makes the job so much easier for the opposing defense. I think this, Connerly's growing pains, plus Coleman failing as a guard put pressure on Daniels to run or hold the ball too long.
 
I am not sure how anyone can really assess the coaches, other than Whitt who has never been good and demonstrably needs to be replaced, when we are running practice squad receivers out there every week. Our WR with the most snaps against Miami was Chris Moore--a JAG, 30-something, journeyman. No wonder we have offensive struggles. Anyone calling for Kingsbury, Quinn, AP, or tough-talking "injuries are no excuse!" just want to push an agenda or are keyboard mashing.
 
Joe Gibbs won a Super Bowl with waiver wire acquisitions Nick Giaquinto (third down back) and Alvin Garrett (starting WR) making visible contributions.

There were a number of players that other teams gave up on that he found a specific niche or role for and made it work.

While I agree that the Commanders offense has not given Daniels the caliber of running backs and wide receivers that other quarterbacks like Matt Stafford, Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen have enjoyed - I don't necessarily see Quinn and Co. supported by Peters making any real big finds either.

Tunsil was an all pro before he got here. Daniels was the #2 overall pick and Conerly was also a first rounder.

OK, a good GM is expected to make hay with these types of players and the coaches with quality talent to work with.

But are we developing Brandon Coleman? How come Lane can't do more as a rookie as a threat down the field in certain packages?

Why is it so difficult for this staff to find out what Merritt, Rodriguez and MacNichols can do and work a rotation so that we get more productive plays from the backs?

Also, at 3-9 I don't understand why we still aren't looking for younger players on other teams' practice squads to bring in and give them an extended audition now that the season has gone into its non-competitive for the playoffs phase.

I do see a glimpse of this in Peters bringing in Burks and Drake Jackson. Hopefully, Jackson is now healthy after a long rehab from the knee and can flash some ability as a former high second round pick.

Umm.. it seems like every team except for this one can find productive FAs to help the team win.
Much more injured teams like Bears, AZ, giants, Det, etc are finding players and ways to win. Something this team seems to be allergic to. This is a direct hit against the overall competence of this FO from the their ability to draft and build depth to an ability to find appropriate FAs ... but hey give them a participation trophy and a pad on the head, poor babies.

Nicki Jhabvala put an article out where we've used 321 unique combinations on offense, the most in the league, by far the most in the league, were her exact words. Of those combinations, just three have played together 10 or more snaps. We had 19 such combinations last year. Like wise, I believe it was reported our starters had missed 46 man games, most in the league.

The ignore feature here is wonderful, just side note. It really eliminates the pointless noise.
