The Jayden Daniels Tracker

Would it be fair to say that Warner is playing with comparable talent (in those AFL highlights) to what Washington is mostly fielding but against minor-league defensive talent?

I don’t think that anyone is making the argument that Jayden is playing at the level he established last year. But for a plethora of reasons this team’s offensive roster is not last year’s either.

I guess I wanted to say two things in response to the idea Warner isn’t fit to judge because he played with great receivers. First, Warner was known for his excellent processing speed, and a big part of that was his three years in the arena league where the game is faster. And second, it’s silly to pretend that one of the greatest Cinderella stories in league history lived life on easy street.

I get it, though I don’t see the need to defend Warner. He did so himself on many different media outlets yesterday. (So, mission accomplished from a content creator’s aspect.) But if I were so inclined, I just wouldn’t personally use Arena League highlights to make my argument. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Criticism is justified but context matters. This season vs last season is not an apples to apples comparison in any form. Also, for what it’s worth, I think labeling Jayden’s performance this season as a sophomore slump is, well, intellectually dishonest and willfully ignores that context, as well.

Look, I would never say he’s unfit to provide analysis on the QB position. But I do think he knew exactly what he was doing with that take, which will heavily increase his profile. Not that there was no truth to what he was saying, but it sure felt like he started with a position and looked to make that case. There are reasons his opinion wasn’t universally accepted as gospel, just as there are reasons you seem to now be a big fan of his. 🤣

I wasn’t making an argument or offering highlights as evidence. I was responding to a post that questioned Warner’s credibility on the grounds he played with great receivers. The video was just a reminder that the guy is known for playing three years of arena football before his Hall of Fame NFL career, and that his arena experience made him one of the best at the exact aspect of the game he is analyzing.

Warner is a Hall of Famer and the subject of a major motion picture about one of the greatest Cinderella stories in the history of sports. He doesn’t need to make clickbait to raise his profile. I get that we want to defend Jayden, but this is just getting silly.

Should Jayden critique Warner on his inability to scramble and create? He would have been unstoppable if he could move.

Obviously, I’m being facetious. But the point you seem to be missing is that Kurt was a totally different QB, with a history of criticizing mobile QB’s who ‘create’ too much for his liking. He sees the game differently because his skill set isn’t the same.

And before you get carried away defending the honor of Kurt Warner. I always liked his story and thought it was cool when he had the resurgence with AZ, wanted him to win that Super Bowl. The only point being made is he’s not the end all be all on QB critique and his game was very much opposite of how the position is played these days.

If you say so. 👊🏼

My point remains: he was throwing to minor league talent (much like our QBs this year) vs minor-league defensive talent (not like our QBs this year.)

Clearly, you don’t want to defend Jayden. You’ve been crusading for a while now doing just the opposite with a sprinkle of ‘hope’. 🤣

You think he made that video just for fun?

Monday, nobody was talking about Kurt Warner. Yesterday and today a lot folks are talking about him. That’s literally the job of everyone in the media, whether they are in the HOF or rode the bench.

BREAKING: Head Coach Dan Quinn just confirmed Jayden Daniels' injury is more severe than all previous media reports. "None of us wanted to believe it, but he's in more pain than we realized," he stated. Internal sources indicate the Commanders are considering placing Daniels on the IR list – and the detail sending shivers down fans' spines: doctors have reportedly asked him to temporarily cease movement...

Somewhere I saw Quinn say it's time to protect Daniels from himself. Should have done that in the fourth quarter of the game last Sunday night

This feels like Facebook AI stuff.

Maye has one significant advantage - he has Vrabel and Josh McDaniel guiding his career. Vrabel I think is one of the best, but he got screwed over by a Vinny level stupid GM. McDaniel is Norvo on steroids - a catastrophic failure as a head coach, but one of the most brilliant OCs - look at how much Mac Jones sucked after he left.
For people worried JD is RG4, let's have a little perspective - how much of his young career has Joe Burrow missed so far ...Lemar Jackson is also out this season. Injuries happen - The Mannings and Favre are exceptions, not the rule.

Are you posting this as another example of bogus ‘stuff’ being posted out there? If so, please stop.

I’m not so sure that chart is measuring the things Warner is talking about. For example, how much is “non first read rate” a function of how good your first option is?

The reason for getting through the progressions is irrelevant. Warner says Daniels is not getting through his progressions. The stats say that's wrong, he is in fact among the best in the league at going through reads and making good decisions. This year. Warner threw out a broad statement based on one game, a game where Seattle didn't give Daniels *any* time to get past his first read without a DE/LB taking his head off. I like Kurt Warner, loved watching the Greatest Show on Turf and rooted for him in Arizona, but it was a bad take by Warner.

Daniels hasn't looked comfortable this year, hasn't looked great, but it's not because he's regressed in processing like Warner says, it's because AP constructed a fatally flawed roster around him, exposed by a ridiculous rash of injuries, and exacerbated by Daniels' own injuries. He's had receivers running the wrong routes, breaking off routes, dropping easy catches - and that's been in the uncommon situation this year where he actually has time to throw - against some of the better defenses in the NFL.

Somebody get Jerry Rice to break down tape on the Commanders receivers, let's see how that goes. How about Schlereth doing a clip on our OL in that same Seattle game. Yikes.

You gotta put yourself on timeout from passing along the bogus FB stuff, unplug

Maybe the doctors are going to put him into an induced coma due to an arm injury. 🤣 Better than amputation, I suppose.

BREAKING: Head Coach Dan Quinn just confirmed Jayden Daniels' injury is so much more severe than all previous media reports that doctors now have no choice but to induce a coma. "None of us wanted to believe it, but he's in infinitely more pain than we realized, both physically and mentally. And spiritually and existentially and hyperbolically," he stated. "All the 'llys'." Internal sources indicate the Commanders are considering placing Daniels on the Incredibly Extremely Injured Reserve list – and the detail sending shivers down fans' spines: doctors have reportedly asked him to temporarily cease movement in anticipation of left pinky amputation.

All the illys 🤣

In general when you have to make excuses for people then it probably means it's a thing. I worry about JD, there are a lot of smart football fans on this board and if you aren't worried about him having 4 injuries before he could make it halfway through season two then you're not being honest with yourself that his body may not hold up.

I hope it works out.
