2025 Washington Commanders- All Things Defense

Aren't we gonna get him back at some point?
He broke one of the bones in his leg. So it’s possible. But it’s unclear. After the bone heals it takes time to get strength back.

Two different segments with Sheehan.

A. He had some ex-player film Junkie do a film review on the last game. One of his points is miscommunications on bunch sets, etc is about not practicing it enough during the week. He checked that with a coach who told him, yeah if they are struggiling with that, it's stuff you prepare and practice for during the week. And clearly they are unprepared for it. So if it were them they'd continue to do bunch sets, put people in motion untih this team can stop it.

B. I think Sheehan had a good point just now. Joe Whitt's press conference was basically about blaming the players. And when the coaches go into that level detail like he does about this and that player screws up -- its sort a low key way to defend your coaching and in turn you come off defensive.

Was listening to a Chargers reporter talk about how good St. Juste has been for them this season. His PFF scores are very good. I've mentioned this before, you can argue that the corners did worse under Whitt last season than their previous gigs.

My point is maybe the coaching and scheme is meh?
No doubt the scheme is terrible . . . not sure if its just a terrible fit for our personnel, or if it is just a broken scheme in genera (i expect its the former). WR's and especially TE's are open from the snap.

Hopefully Walt Harris has that Alex Ovechkin man-strength in his leg
I mean, one is one of the greatest, toughest and badest hockey players of all time, and the other one is Will Harris.

But I guess you never know...

Not an amazing look for the leader of the Defense…

Is this real or AI edited?

Seems to be real, the guy posted a video of navigating to his DM’s, back and forth, and opening the message from Wagner. One of the only ways to prove a DM is real these days and generally accepted.

That sucks to hear

So, he's not actually posting it publicly. Was it stupid to reply to a doofus who then posts it publicly? Yes. But he didn't go out of his way to throw anybody under the bus.

It must be hard if you know what's going on, somebody posts something entirely un-true, and then just keeping quite and letting the dumbass get away with it. Which is what Bobby should have done.

Not a great look, but to me, not a big deal wither.

I mean, it’s not a huge deal on a human level, but it does mean he’s either searching what people are saying about him on Commanders twitter or he’s got people in his circle sending it to him. Either way some insight into his injured ego as his career comes to a close and his performance declines, it’s a shame to know that’s the sort of stuff he’s worried about at his age. Almost feel bad for him given he’s always been elite, probably his entire life, until he ran into the uncaring, inevitable entropy of Father Time. That’s gotta be a struggle for someone who’s about to have to reinvent himself and realign his identity in his mid-30’s, after he retires from his first career. Can’t be helping the situation short term that he’s looking at stuff like this and cares enough to respond, though.

I think I’ve seen enough. I’m not quick to jump in and think I know better about guys in the league with respected reputations. I feel like we have had enough of a sample size with Joe Whitt Jr.

I don’t want to see Quinn take a more active role next year. I want Whitt fired and replaced by a guy that’s already shown he can be a great DC in the league.

What’s the word on Kinlaw’s injury from last week?

Shoulder injury and I believe he was limited at the last practice, and listed as questionable.

Agree, it's not a great look one way or the other.

I have to imagine the guy takes a lot of pride in what he does, and it eats him up when know-nothing armatures criticize him, and get it wrong. Now. He should just go punch a wall and keep his mouth shut. But to be as good as he has been, you have to be wired in a certain way, and just accepting it probably goes against the wiring.

I watched the game and knew it was a shoulder injury. I guessed at the time because of the mechanism it was a torn pec and if so he’d be out for the year. I’ve seen that injury too many times. So I was hoping for a more specific diagnosis. 😉

But the fact that he was practicing (even if limited) and was ‘questionable’ (as opposed to ‘out’) has me *really* curious now.🧐

Looks like he avoided a serious injury. Lucky guy. I hate that injury for players.

I personally feel like Kinlaw has been a huge disappointment… but he is typically good for at least one tackle-for-loss play each game. I expected much more after the Giants game.

But this team can use a little good juju on the injury front.

Interesting take. The coaches and film study guys have basically said he has been having a standout season all year.

I'm not sure what the PFF grades say, but my thought was he was doing really well, and was definitely an off-season hit.

I think the bigger problem is since there isn't a DE on the roster, teams are able to just run outside and ignore the middle, which means the DTs are just marginalized as a group. Especially with run defense. Teams just run elsewhere.

Yeah, I’m not buying the ‘huge disappointment’ label. There has not been many (or any) splash plays that pop to mind but I also don’t know what role he is playing.
