This roster just isn’t good enough to overcome a bad Jayden game. He threw 3 TD’s, had some great throws and scrambles, but lost the game on turnovers that should’ve been points. That’s just the reality, the D is criminally bad but it was still our game because when Jayden plays well, we can win more often than not. And when he makes mistakes, we can’t withstand them.

Roster needs to be purged again after this season. Old, slow, and lacking hunger in too many important spots. We need a whole alignment shift in terms of drive on the defensive side of the ball. Whitt talks a good game but we come out flat and lame constantly on D (and truthfully too often on O). Quinn has a lot to look at, but there’s a lot of games left to get things moving in the right direction.

All that big picture stuff is important for the future, but right now if Daniels isn’t elite, we lose. It’s that simple. This is a 5-win team without Daniels. Maybe. We aren’t there yet but he can elevate us when all goes well.

This has been my position all along. If Jayden does not play at an elite level this isn't a very good team. I knew defenses would take away his designed runs, we need a counter for that. This defense can't stop anyone when it matters.

Watched Quinn’s press conference he came off sadder especially at the end than any conference of his that i can recall.

Part of me thinks this coaching staff and FO are shell shocked thet not only arent they taking a step up from last season but are worse

Not surprising, he talked at length about how he spent his time as a coordinator seeking out various opinions and working tirelessly to ensure he wouldn't make the same mistakes his second stint as a head coach that he made his first and here we are with the exact same team he had in Atlanta.

Decent enough team that relies heavily on a brilliant offensive coordinator and a star quarterback but despite being a defensive minded coach has an atrocious defense.

We are what the falcons were in his first go around we're just not quite as talented.

Guess its True what they say, a tiger cannot change his stripes.

Yeah I got no issue with how Jayden took ownership. I think in a weird way it might be good for him that this happened. Again, I don't think Quinn, Peters or Jayden are smug by nature. But I do think its natural to be feeling yourself after some success. Unexpected adversity can shake you so you can refind their edge.

Jayden had an off game and still threw 3 TDs, not bad. The lack of focus though is a wtf. Come on man, get it together. Good learning experience though, still just in his second year. Some growing pains. The good: our WR group once Terry returns. We literally have 4 options at WR now between Luke, Lane, Bo, and Terry.
The bad: our defense. It’s going to be a roller coaster the rest of the season with that terrible defense. Still think the team has enough juice to sneak into the playoffs but they’re not going anywhere with this defense. Next year though I expect a huge leap forward and then the year after should be annual contenders for a while.

After watching the corpse of D’andre Swift run behind a bunch of jags moving what was supposed to be our best defensive unit out of the way at will in crunch time when the whole world knew they were going to run it….

Jayden better find his cape fast.

I didn’t want to say it pregame and be a negative Nelly but this in my mind was an absolute must win. As much of a must win a non divisional game in October can be.

Thought it was funny Joe Buck referred to this defense as "great" at the start of the game. I was like, has he watched any of our games? only time they look decent is against scrubs or teams decimated by injuries or with horrendous lines.(Giants and Chargers)

It’s tough to win a game in the NFL no matter who the opponent is. A lot of things have to go right. A lot of things went wrong for both our guys and Chicago last night. We just happened to make one of our critical mistakes at the worst possible moment with them needing just a FG to win it and not enough time for us to have a chance to answer.

I have no doubt every one in that locker room wanted to win last night.

Beyond that, I’m sure the reality set in that they couldn’t afford to lose this one. High likelihood this team can get healthier and still end up 3-6 or 4-5 by the beginning of November.

Yeah. And again its me extrapolating-guessing.

A lot of it is from Peters press conference before the season. He didn't say it arrogantly. But he made some comment that came off like what a roster I built, wait to you see what we do. He said it more modestly than that but that's the vibe I got from one of his comments.

Then you got Terry pushing a contract as if he's the best Wr in the league. And his comments like he's a different version of a 30 year old Wr because hey he's Terry and he's very, very special. You got some overhang of that on the season.

You got all the praise for Jayden for being magic and the next Mahomes.

You got Quinn celebrated for the turnaround and all his sayings are quoted like he's some football savant-prophet.

You got Kingsbury pushed as a genius again.

Then you make some additions in the off season that should boost the roster.

So IMO there is a lot of celebration that I think can go to their heads. I do like Quinn. Peters. Kingsbury. Jayden. I think they all find their groove. But its felt to me, and I mentioned this during the off season, it feels like they are going to walk into their Rocky 3 moment this season. Wasn't sure if it would drag the whole season down or whether it would just effect the early part.

I do think Quinn-Peters-Jayden are determined. I do think they got a SB in them. I think they are all smart and driven. But my gut has been that's more likely next season then this season as for chasing a SB. lol, in a triology of a movie series. It's that 2nd of the three movies that's often the darker one -- the set back after success.

At a minimum it feels like they need two seasons in a row to realize that for whatever reason their defense is trash and they are delusional about it. You got Whitt being "honest" basically trashing his players in his press conferences with feint praise to cover himself. Basically hey I coached them up perfectly but that poor sucker did this or that anyway. That player really tries hard and means well so god bless him but...

You got them crowing about how "ball is life" is their mantra but they suck at it. They talk about how this is going to be Quan's breakthrough season but lol it hasn't been that in a positive way, its been a breakthrough in reverse. It feels like they need to get some hard lessons -- Quinn and Peters that their defense isn't coached well and the personnel isn't good. They seem stubborn to just ride it out.

If you want to look at the big picture - and if you are AP and/or DQ, of course that is what you should be doing - this is the bigger concern, sure.

I don't think this absolves the offense from its inability to play to an opponent's weaknesses. I think in the modern NFL, you don't get to the postseason and run roughshod over your opponents like the '91 team did. You generally have to know how to play to an opponent's weaknesses - and it doesn't seem like Kliff likes to do that much.

However, big picture - Keim is definitely right. This is not a defense that would be expected to take you very far. There are quite a few concerns, and they are pretty spread out. Some would say DL is a big concern but actually right now I may say it's my lowest concern. Yes they don't get enough pressure, but I think it was really telling when Aikman mentioned they wanted to get matchups against Wagner. I mean, yes, duh, but still - that's going to be a major gameplan and it's going to be a huge problem for the next two weeks.

Is this a Kliff thing or a Jayden thing? Did Kliff favor shotgun with the Cardinals? Again, I don’t like plans that cut the playbook unless they are very carefully architected.

I agree the defense is the biggest problem but we have to weigh it against the investment. So much was invested in O; Deebo, Tunsil, and Conerly all cost us. We need visible contributions from them. Some of that can be on the coordinator; putting players in positions to succeed.

Personally, I think Kliff has some big plans in game flow. I think he has frequently planned out how they will get a touchdown in the fourth quarter. My issue is he is way too myopic on certain things. His run calls to the rb lack variety. Where I think he thinks he is getting variety is via reverses and qb runs; we needed more outside running, I would like to see JD under center. I feel like for some reason that will never happen and I don’t know why. It cuts our flexibility and surprise down quite a bit; that means less hesitation at the snap which I think should be a priority for an OC.

The whole team is off, including JD5. Injuries to key players like Sam Cosmi, Austin Ekeler, Terry Mclaurin robbed this team not only of talent but leadership as well. Commanders are not talented enough to overcome these injuries unless Jayden plays hero ball like last year.

And yes, of course some of that relates to gameplan, practice, etc… but it still always comes down to execution. Last night too many players didn’t.

Forgive me but you think even the all-time greats didn’t have mistakes in key moments? Listen, I crushed Jayden last night and argued that it’s okay to blame him, and he seems to be doing the same. But he’s a second year player who let a wet ball slip through his hands in a week 6 game, he’s just taking responsibility for the mistake like we want him to, it’s not a psychological analysis of himself. He failed his teammates and fans in a moment, as every player who ever played has done, and owned it. Trying to act like it’s some commentary on his mindset or worthiness is hilarious. He was arguably the most clutch player in the entire NFL last year as a rookie (and was also the only reason we were in the game with our shitty roster last night to begin with, despite the turnovers)
