2025 Washington Commanders- All Things Offense

I know he's very comfortable in the pistol or shotgun, but I'd like to see Jayden under center once in a while.

This offense has a serious opportunity to take a couple more big steps over the next few weeks and can hopefully get into a groove. Cosmi hopefully comes back on MNF a week from now, Terry, and Noah Brown were not put on IR which lends the belief that they're coming back sooner rather than later. Luke appears to be gaining footing and the O-Line responded in a big way yesterday.

Yes. It would add confusion and concerns for defenses which is always good. It would also allow Kliff to expand his play book

The Rams are feasting out of under center looks this year and it helps them disguise run vs pass very well. Obviously with a mobile guy like Daniels you want him to be able to see the gaps in the D opening up so shotgun helps with that, but he’d also kill it off bootlegs so it wouldn’t hurt to mix it up. Play action from under center looks is much more convincing and deadly as well. Play action on shotgun/pistol looks are more about syncing up the timing of the O than fooling the D, most of the time

This is a fantasy stat obviously but the insane efficiency Bill is operating with even as his touches increase is extremely impressive. It’s early-career Jamaal Charles esque, where people said there was no way he could keep up his per-touch efficiency once he became the starter but then he did it…for years straight

That is quite the upgrade from the eyes closed run into the back of the OLman Robinson runs.

Big time. Robinson like clockwork is at 4 YPC, with arguably the best run designer in the NFL. He's a jag.

Croskey-Merritt, is explosive -- star level potential.

Heck I think the practice squad RB, Donovan Edwards is better than Robinson.

I think Robinson is the most overrated player this team has had nationally in years, Yes he's from Alabama. Yes, its commendable how he bounced back from being shot. Yes, he's big. Yes, he's had some moments where his size shows. But mostly he's a meh power back.

Glad he's gone.

I liked Ekeler. But I wasn't fazed with him being out for the season. Washington has some good backs. I don't think Rodriguez is as good as Croskey-Merritt but I do think he's better than Robinson.

Man, that's about as aggressive against a player as you get.

You go.

:devilish:

lol, yeah if I had pick my highlights on ES or here.

A. defending the idea of picking Jayden, some were really annoyed about the idea,

B. defending the Terry pick who I liked before the draft.

C. A ziillion posts here on day 3 about taking Croskey-Merritt.

D. Moving on from Brian Robinson.

I got plenty wrong too -- ala worshipping Chase Young, liking the Richardson FA signing and defending Rivera until I bailed on him in his last year.

I was good on the Robinson pick at the time. And look for a third rounder, its an OK pick. But man I soured on him over time -- when you got a running QB who is an elite running threat -- and you are still just average at best, that's a red flag. But the kicker for me is even if you just judge Brian purely as a power runner -- he's average at best on that front, he gets stuffed a lot in short yardage situations where power runners are supposed to excel.

defending Rivera until I bailed on him in his last year.

Defending Rivera made absolutely 0 sense though. Especially when you factor in who hired him and the history.

I was laughing at the Rivera hire before he was actually hired because there was just no chance that's he was going to be good.

Actually it turned out great. DD sold the team it was so bad. Rivera could have just picked a random fans 5 year old kid to run the draft for him each of his 4 seasons and all they couldn't be worse. All they would have to do is hit on 1 actual star player in 4 years to beat Ron's drafts.

Ron’s drafts were so bad Thor Nystrom could have done better.

(Runs away!!!!)

I was so glad that Bruce was gone. I might have been Bruce's harshest critic on ES and made more enemies oddly off of that stance and more so than any sports take I've had over decades.

So Ron had a built in honeymoon period with me. Because for his faults, he was a good dude. Can't say the same about Bruce IMO. Can't say the same about Dan. And at least he was a football guy.

But as the drafts happened. The only one where he took who I wanted was the first draft where he took Chase Young. After that he took Jamin. I wanted Darrisaw. He took Jahan. I wanted Kyle Hamilton.

The final straw was him taking Forbes when I wanted Gonzalez. And heck I got made fun of on ES by how hardcore i was on wanting Gonzalez. But as that draft unfolded along with FA, I just blasted Ron after that. I was a loud critic of him that off season.

But yeah I was wrong to have his back. We all get some right and wrong.

But lol, i think i do find in that department in general. I wish the old ES existed where you can pull old posts -- when NFLchick dissapeared I became the defacto Jayden guy and defended the idea of taking him to many posters. That alone should save me from my misses. But I had my share of good ones too beyond that mostly notably I was a rare Terry guy on ES, he was not loved in the draft thread. And here i beat to death Croskey-Merritt on day 3 wanting him.

My worst moments was the Chase Young love. Those posts in retrospect were embarassing. :)

Yeah I didn't think JD was going to be anything close to what he's been so far. I was Maye all the way but him going to NC was one thing to worry about. At least he didn't go to USC though.

Maye played lights out last night.

I was more Maye than Daniels but thought they would both be really good.

If Maye continues to play like he did last night, a lot of pressure on Caleb to not be seen as a total bust if the 2 guys right behind him and Nix all looking really good.

I think Penix is going to be good.

The guy I was totally out on was McCarthy. I thought he was the one guy in that group of QBs who just had bust written all over him. I’m shocked Peters was apparently high on him.

I liked Maye a lot. I wavered between the two of them. I preferred Jayden early on. Closer to the draft I slightly preferred Maye but loved them both. So many were down though on Jayden and were sold on Maye, that I had to spend a lot of time defending the idea of taking to Jayden to many people.

Right now, I think both are studs. I do prefer Jayden because he has that "it" factor that am not sure that Maye has in big spots in the clutch.

I mean, Maye came through last night in clutch spots to beat the bills. We’ll see if they continues but he played really well last night in big spots.

True, and it was also nice last night seeing Hurts being totally incapable of doing what JD has done multiple times to win games late.
