It's not that just them, its just about everybody with an outlier or two.

But to each their own. I think you are working against logic as to overall data over the course of a season.

If you want to make the point that anything can happen, any Sunday, and context matters. You bet, that's actually a large part of my point about this game.

Will there some bad teams in 2024 who end up good and good teams from 2024 who end up bad. You bet.

But for the same reason why so many here are confident about this team's future is the same reason why certain teams are consistent winners. Not every season but just close enough. When you got a Josh Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Jayden, Mahomes, etc -- the odds are good you aren't going to suck. Even Sheehan has come around on that point.

Odds are good that the Chiefs are better than the Jets. Or the Bills are better than Panthers. I get the idea that its impossible to know for sure. True. But plenty would put a lot of money on it, me included.
 
I think the tendency for this game to be looked at as upset potential mostly has to do with the Giants D-line and it being Week 1 because as we've seen so far through the first two games, teams aren't playing their best football right now (you can argue it will be that way for at least half or more of September) and little mistakes could be more costly if other aspects of the team aren't humming along smoothly yet.

For me this is a big no mistakes game. Just don't do things to keep the Giants hanging around. I really don't foresee that offense putting up a lot of points unless they are driving on a lot of short fields due to turnovers or bad special teams coverage. Even if our offense doesn't come out of the gate firing on all cylinders, I think they have the ability to wear a good Giants defense down if our defense is able to keep putting their defense back on the field.
 
Listening to Keim's podcast, feels like 50-50 Noah Brown plays. If so, its not a disaster injury like arguably it is for the Giants if Thomas doesn't play.

But its not great. Noah is probably the best run blocker among the WRs and is a true Z. I don't think there is a natural Z to replace him. the backups are more natural slot WRs.

By week 3 but mostly week 4, you can look again at the schedule and get a much better idea of SoS. There starts being less variance at that point in Pythagorean Record for example.

Bring on Jaxson Dart. Look maybe he's as good as the hype, you got me. But the hype has gotten to be absurd IMO. Generaational QB segment on him by a national media outfit before the's thrown a single reglular pass. Between that and the comps of Abdul Carter to Parsons -- lets see it first. I'll give them this for a bottom rung team last year -- I can't recall a team with that much swagger a season later.

Because I clicked on a few Giants tweets earlier this week, my twitter feed is loaded now with Giant tweets. You'd think we are playing the Chiefs today reading through it all.

Mara never defined exactly what “progress” meant, but around the league, most equate it to another “p” word: playoffs.

I see the, at least, part-time plan to include Dart into the game as an indication that NY isn’t all that enthralled with Russ.

I can't stand Rusell Wilson, and that little first down shuffle he did against us at the end of the Steelers game last year made me hate him even more.

I want his head on a pike. Go skins.
 
Start fast, remind the Giants that they were last place team. The longer the game goes with it being tight, the greater the likelihood that the Giants might get a bounce or two going their way and be able to steal a road game. Play with a killer instinct from the get go, boys. That’s a big key for me.

Yeah I was just talking to someone else about this. My take is we are benching Russell Wilson in the 2nd half if he struggles in the first hald -- as opposed to plays just for Dart.

It would be one thing is Wilson wasn't mobile. But he can still run albiet not like he used to. So I don't get the package idea for Dart.

I actually feel better about the game, the more Giants hype I've encountered. I thought a couple of weeks or so I was going out on a limb saying this is going to be a tough one. But now that I see how much love the Giants are getting, including to some extent from the national (its mixed with the national types) and their local media, it feels way premature, almost like the Giants already peaked before the game even started. :)

I don't think I can remember a team with this much swagger coming off a losing season. It reinforced in me how much I hate that team.
