Parsons Traded to Green Bay - Signs Record Contract

Wow, I was not expecting that. I’m glad Dallas lost such a great player, and they will probably be worse for it, but they did get rid of a disgruntled player and add cap space and two 1sts.

This is why I'm actually glad we didnt do this.

It's not just about the money, or the compensation in a vacuum. When you have a rookie QB, and you're looking at roster turnover, not having 2 years of first round talent, on rookie deals, hurts. The Commanders defense could be dangerous with Parsons, but it also means the window, while it might be bigger, is much shorter. Green Bay is now invested with Jordan Love over the next 3 years. There's no going back anymore. If it works, it's great. If it doesnt... the future is bleak for them.

Kenny Clark & Donte Fowler Jr. will combine to make Dallas a better defense than Michael Parsons would.

That is some imagineering on mushrooms that would make Walt Disney envious. But spending that level of dough on a one-dimensional player is equally as ludicrous.

Yeah seems to me the Packers fell in love with Parsons beyond reason - can one player (non QB) really make that big of a difference?
I doubt it but as always, we'll know soon enough if it's a hit or a miss from GB.

Wow, the trade is reminiscent of when GB went all in on obtaining defensive stud Reggie White. That worked out well for them. Parsons brings an immediate big impact to their D.

Don't worry Cowboy fans, Jerry will make the best out of those added draft picks and your defense will be back on top in no time.:D

Jones is taking a beating from Cowboys fans but I don’t think there was any way to make the money work. They just have too much $$$ already locked up in Dak, Lamb, and others to pay Parsons what it was going to take.

The only qualm I think one can reasonably have is that Green Bay is going to have a good season so those 1st round picks are going to be closer to 2nd rounders in all likelihood.

I think Jerry Jones found himself in a situation there really was no other solution.

Do you by chance mean Jerry's ego?

And yes, I think they backed themselves into a corner by handing Lamb and Dak too large of contracts. Happy our real GM is being careful with that type of situation.

I don't agree with this at all. Jerry Jones is an ego maniac who traded away his best defensive player after violating the CBA* and dealing directly with a player that has an agent. Moreover his insistance on paying players at the last minute is asinine. He could have gotten Mica Parsons for 35 million a year last year when he wanted a new deal. Same thing he did with CeeDee Lamb and Dak twice. I hope Jerry Jones lives forever. Can you imagine if he were more like Robert Kraft? He never would have fired Jimmy Johnson and the Cowboys would have been a dynasty in the 90s 🤢🤮 Okay guys don't imagine that, it'll make you sick.

*The NFLPA is a joke, so I doubt Jerry will face repercussions. John Mara admitted to collusion on TV and NFLPA couldn't take advantage of it because of their silly agreement for a small salary cap increase for a single season.

Well, sure - if you want to broaden it to ‘what could Jerry Jones have done over the past 4 years to prevent this scenario’. My point was, given what had taken place up to the point where they were ‘negotiating’ with Parsons, Jones really had little ability to offer Parsons the contract he wanted. That’s not giving him a pass for how they got to that point.

He made the trade because there was no other viable option in the present moment.

Whether Jones is an arrogant prick who created the scenario is an entirely different conversation.

I'd love to know the other offers that were out there.

Two firsts and a player is a lot but ... man, Dallas crapped the bed with this one. Either you are rebuilding and collecting picks or you are gearing up for a run and paying your stars. Dallas has managed to do a little of each this offseason. That's a recipe for sustained mediocrity. Something we Washington fans know a thing or two about.

A monster of his own creation...he did this to himself.

Don't stop your enemies when they're doing something stupid.

I'm on the fence about his son...this could be more an Al Davis situation then Jerry being the new Snyder.

I hope they lose 1-2 generations of fans like we did.

This made me lol. Could have been Commanders or Giant fans in the background.

i think jerry did good this time to be honest. Parsons always seemed like a headcase

There was this sexual assault thing against his own teammate in college that everybody stopped talking about the second he got drafted
