My number one, two and three concern is health.
I think this team has a very special chemistry as evidenced by our overachieving run last year but that chemistry dies fast as we get into what we all agree is poor depth.

Stay healthy and we could have another special season.
 
Few teams have quality depth, that is what the salary cap does around the NFL.

How good are the Chiefs without Mahomes? 6-11?

How good are the Chiefs with Mahomes but with Chris Jones and Trent McDuffie on IR? 9-8 or 10-7?

Luck with injuries is just that luck.

You can't predict it.

Teams that draft well (like the eagles) have good depth regardless of the cap.
Our roster was so decimated by Ron that it'll take many yearsbof good drafting to recover, certainly more than two.
 
Despite it pointing to a serious lack of depth, I find keeping only 5WRs kinda rare. And really, 4 backs and TEs. I feel like its usually been 3 backs only for many years now.

Quinn or Kliff hinting at something interesting brewing on offense... I suspect it will be having 2 backs, or 3 TEs on the field a lot.

Well I think Week 1 won't have a workhorse anyways. Giants front is too good to let us ride a "hot hand" RB, whichever one it is. So it'll be tough and grinding it out.

Unless Kliff can really scheme up confusion among the linebackers with Deebo/Lane.

All-in-all, I suspect the starter is CRod. But it won't be by much. 200 carries for him, 130 for Bill, 70 for Ekeler or something like that. Definitely a RBBC with nobody as the workhorse unless they're the hot hand and tearing up a particular defense.

We have none of those factors.

Our entire offensive staff is back, our offensive line is significantly improved, we brought in deebo samuel and drafted bill to add some speed and elusiveness to our backfield but above all, jayden wasn't carried by this team last year he was doing the carrying.

Jayden is a special player and rarley do those truly special (carry the team) type players regress but anything is possible.

A sophmore slump from jayden is very low on the things that concern me about this team.

I believe a good part of Stroud's "sophomore slump" was due to losses on the offensive line, the opposite of what's happening here. And not knocking Stroud, but Jayden's talent and work effort are both at a higher level.

pretty sure josh johnson's spot as #3 is not long for this world. that's where we'll squeeze in a 6th receiver. it would also make me feel better than having 5 WR with one of them on punt/kick return duties.

Agreed, and they still easily won a playoff game.

If thats a slump im ok with that, as much as id love to win the superbowl just being competitive for a while is ok with me until the roster is ready.
 
I think Lane has legit DJax potential. His short area quickness and burst is unreal. His route running is excellent, too. If he can learn to track the deep ball, then Jayden's going to be hitting him in stride 40 yards deep pretty often.

I mean, DJax was rare because of his exceptional ability to track the deep ball. That's not something that has been teachable cause the list of long air yard catches is basically just him and Randy Moss at the top then nobody else is close. Not saying we can't get Lane into a good deep threat. But DJax was in a realm of his own.

Santana was also great at that. Imagine Santana playing with Jayden in a more pass happy NFL.

I think you’re right. I also think they legitimately like Yankoff and Rodriquez, and love McNichols’ versatility… as opposed to just thinking they outperformed our camp wrs. So I don’t think they’re anxious to ditch any of those for a 6th wr.

I’ll also add that there’s some versatility with Deebo, Lane and McCaffrey being able to play some outside receiver.
