I'd add for Ron, and I've mentioned this before, if he had one ounce of humility about his tenure it would age IMO so much better. It's part of the reason why Jay has regained some ground with fans from what I've noticed -- not that they embrace his tenure but it aged well compared to Ron for starters and as a dude he comes off likeable.

While we got Ron peddiling in interviews that Quinn thanked him for setting him up for the success he had -- and also using Greg Olsen to parrot that nonsense on a broadcast about Ron's "roster" setting up this teams success. You would think its a joke but apparently he actually believes this nonsense.

what would he be honored for??? being the worst GM in franchise history? I argued that he was the worst in franchise history on ES a year back and got a lot of flack for it.... its pretty obvious now.

Indeed. It really is stunning how poor Ron the GM was. Guys like Cosmi and Quan Martin are the rare exception. But maaaan. B-Rob - traded away just now. Howell - all he does is get traded. Davis, Mathis, Hudson, etc all looking for work. AGG (who I stupidly had some hope for retired). I expect Cole Turner will get cut. Curl seems to be a "fine" safety in LA. And there are guys like BSJ, Forbes and Dyami who are in the league, but nothing to write home about.

AP had and still has a lot to dig out from.
I'm willing to bet that Ron didn't select Cosmi or Quan since they've actually ended up hitting as mainstays on this team. As for Howell, I know he gets a lot of hate,,but I'll always root for that kid. All he did was come in to every game and played fearless and gave everything he had! He never complained and kept getting back up after getting the shit knocked out of him!!

There are many times that Howell looks like a quality NFL starting QB. Many times in that year he started for us I thought ‘This kid can play’. He made some truly wow throws, led quality drives under pressure and was as tough as nails.

He also takes a gazillion sacks and throws interceptions making desperation throws that would make a backup High School QB blush. Three franchises have now understood he’s fools gold, but his highlight reel will keep him in gainful employment holding a clipboard and picking up very good money for doing so.

Fool's gold may make for the perfect backup QB lol

Good in flashes and the short term, but not someone you want to count on over the long haul because the law will catch up.

He warranted picks from trades, I don't think fool's gold does that. Now maybe if he was cut or waived, but he's been traded for picks. Obviously someone values him!!

No, it just means that there aren't enough quarterbacks in the NFL to satisfy the demand for depth.

Carson Wentz has held onto an NFL paycheck the past 3 years with 3 different teams basically holding a clipboard.

Whether he could actually go in and play is anyone's guess at 32.

And let's recall that Nate Sudfeld was just cut from the 49ers. He had been out there for years but almost never got into games.

No doubt he was a very cerebral guy who helped the coaches with the gameplan and installing plays in the offseason, etc.

The difference between these guys and Mariota is Marcus can still go into an NFL game and help you win it.

Even though it is a high number does signing Terry actually free up some space for another signing, even if a one year contract guy?

He’s been traded for literally bags of used footballs. Very marginal trade gains. But he does have some value obviously.

He’s played in actual NFL games and looked much more than competent at times. Having watched some preseason football that puts him head and shoulders above a lot of guys picking up checks to be ‘break glass if needed’ backup QBs.

Used footballs?? Tell us how you really feel about him lol! Look we can keep going back and forth I don't mind,,but all I was saying is that I'm going to continue to root for the kid because when he was here he never complained after he got thrown into the fire by Ron and Co. Every Sunday he gave it his all, without being a bitch about it!!!

He’s been traded for pick swaps which end up being Day 3 value at best.

It is what it is. Don’t hate him at all - in fact I wish him the best unless he’s playing against us!

Depends how it’s structured. A lot of people have been assuming the new deal just gets stapled onto the end of the old deal (plus signing bonus) but that’s not always how it goes, sometimes the final year of the current deal is torn up and altered. We’ll see

I would absolutely love that. Hell, give 30 and 31 year old Terry $35M a year so long as we’re not obligated to pay 32 and 33 year old Terry anything. Fine with me. I just don’t want a bunch of cap dollars tied up on a guy putting up 650 yards and 4 TDs.

Cincy ponies up additional 14 mil for just this year for Hendrickson

Well played. Getting me back for all the VOR is Jay's biggest fan.

Jay actually would go to the Hall of Fame ironically if his FO prowess matched up to Ron.

Ron might be the worst evaulator in the history of the game. I find it ironic how much he touted Bufflao's operation when he got here, then let other teams including the Giants take Buffalo's FO people -- while he loaded his FO with failed retreads from other offices -- shocking it didn't work for him.
Comparing Ron's evaluation powers to Jay's is like comparing the desire to be shot or hung at your execution. Both suck and you're dead at the end, so who cares?

I think if Howell had the benefit of sitting as a rookie in an offense not coordinated by Scott Turner, learned how to play QB from better coaches, and then didn't have to play for EB, he would have had a shot to become an average NFL starter.

The entire beginning of his career was screwed up with bad coaching, bad scheme and bad play calling.

NOTE: I said "would have a shot." I don't know if he could have done it. He has parts of his game which honestly might not be fixable.

But with the right situation and coaching and reps, maybe he could be better. We'll never know. He's damaged goods now. He'll sadly never have that opportunity.

Making things so bad that even Synder gave up and sold the team?

He absolutely set this team back and in a way that many would have picked better players just using random top 100 lists. He added a nail to Synders coffin, so his failures helped my soul.

Now, I don't think he'll show up to "You sucked so bad you saved my soul" day. But I might ask him anyway.

That is a fact... we can "thank" Riveras ineptitude for forcing Snyder to sell the team.. so yes.. celebration is in order.
