I remain concerned that we are going into the season ill prepared. The reports out of camp are troubling, Coleman and Connerly absolutely need to be getting reps and the projected starting OL needs time together, time they are not getting.

Depending on how the season goes, however, that is going to be one massive contract.
As the dipshit who thought he was getting paid by the amount of times he could say "Laremy Tunsil" stated, and correctly so, Tunsil likes to say he's the highest paid left tackle in the league.
The difference between him and McLaurin, is, of course, he is no worse than the third best LT in the league, so he should have a top 5 contract. AND OL age at a different rate than WRs.

I don't know that there is much which can be done about injuries. They are unfortunate.
I can't say you're wrong, but under Dumbass Jay and Damn Fool Ron, being unprepared for the beginning of the season was mostly due to the fact the coaches were incompetent morons.
That's not the case here.
Yeah the contract for Tunsil will be massive, another reason they need to hold the line with Terry.
Reports are out that B Rob is on the block. I've been down on Robinson long before it was fashionable. But I don't see the point in trading a productive player for a 6th, I was a big fan of the Croskey-Merrit pick but we haven't seen him play other than a few carries in a preseason game.

It’ll probably be the biggest OL deal ever once it’s signed, but I don’t think it’ll be as much of a pain in the ass as the Terry stuff because he’s a premium player at a premium position who we traded for, knowing this was the endgame. Assuming he stays healthy this season I see that one being “easy” to get done. We’ll happily throw cash at an elite LT in his prime imo
I think your point makes sense except it leaves out one possibility: that they see BRob as an active detriment to what they’re trying to do on offense. I don’t think that’s a stretch at all. Once news like this leaks usually that player gets cut if no trade happens, I don’t think he’s long for this roster either way now
Although i agree we'll most likely get it done for the reasons you stated the devils advocate part of my brain wonders why, if all thats true, that hes been traded twice in his career and the last time didn't even involve a first round pick.
Its almost unheard of to trade an elite left tackle in his prime and certainly not twice and although we gave up pretty good compensation its almost crazy we didn't have to give up a first.
The curious part of my brain would love to know why he was available.
And yes ive heard all the excuses.

Im not sure how much i buy those though. You dont trade an elite left tackle if your line stinks, you get rid of the bad parts and build around him.
And we have the same issue with jayden coming up just one year later than them.

I dont know maybe, but whenever a team trades someone that it seems like never gets traded im always trying to figure out why and am always skeptical at first.
Like when a team trades away their franchise quarterback, say for example mcnabb or brunell, it feels like a win for the new team but in hindsight its because the previous team knew they were on the decline and wanted to sell high before they couldn't get anything.
All that is to say im still a tiny bit skeptical that we have an elite franchise left tackle in his prime but i hope thats just nourvosness from being burned by people like Andy reid so many times.
There’s nothing to “buy” about it, I think local Houston media was pretty open about Tunsil being essentially a greedy malcontent despite his elite skill. They didn’t really dig him as a guy. But other than the false starts his play didn’t decline with his greediness and there’s always more money down the pipeline for a guy like him so as long as he’s elite, there’s no problem. The tape doesn’t lie though and he was elite last year (minus the penalties), that OL is just a disaster and they didn’t see the sense in paying one guy such a huge percentage of the cap when the rest of the OL lets through free rushers anyways. It’s not the same regime that traded a haul for him to the Dolphins.
But yeah he’s a money-hungry mercenary who is elite. I think you have room for one or two of those guys on your roster when you have a franchise QB. And it’s not an effort problem, he’s not a guy who sits with nagging injuries when he wants to be paid he just produces.
I do like how he’s being with Conerly, as a mentor, though. I wouldn’t assume we can “change him” with our culture but it’s possible I suppose. Miami was a disaster when he was there as a young guy and Houston is fine but doesn’t have strong leadership.
But yeah he isn’t a core culture guy and Houston treated him that way. Remains to be seen if it’ll be a good choice for them or not but for us he’s more the finishing touch on this OL rather than the only reliable anchor. Which feels great to say.

Their DC is still Shane Bowen. Their defense can absolutely be run on, I think. Brian Robinson put up 133 against them, and we averaged about 150 yrs a game on the ground. Lawrence is a stud, Carter is too (potentially, we all thought Chase Young was at one time), I like Burns was was disappointed we didn't make that trade. But, Thibodeaux is overrated and plays the run about as well as I do. Their ends are very small. Who are their other DTs?
Offensively, I think Daboll is an asshole--similar to Bieniemy, just a much better coach. Wilson is mediocre--he'll be running for his life behind that OL. The only reason he beat us was Daniels' ribs and BSJ doing BSJ things--and fuck that spot, still.
Now, being a division game, I can absolutely see the Giants coming out fired up, and just pulling one out of their ass--we've seen it happen too many times to not be ready for it. But this team is drifting into bad-ownership, believe it when I see it territory.
We're all a little worried because as you said division game, its week one crazy things happen but as far as what we should expect to happen if we're being unbiased and not looking at it through the lens of a nervous fan.

Most power rankings have us top ten somewhere between 6 and 9.
Most power rankings have the giants bottom ten to 5 usually around 28 to 30.
For the first time in as long as i can remember we're the team coming in off a good playoff run with an elite franchise quarterback and they have a retread who's been bounced 3 times in the last 3 years with a coach on the hot seat.
The nfl can be crazy, we all know this but we really should be the confident team going into this, especially considering we're at home.

Weirdly, the preseason is playing out to make the Giants super-overconfident. We know they think they own us. We know they think we got really lucky to win against them last year. And they are crushing it in the preseason while we seem to be floudering a little. And let's face it, in their mind we're still the Snyderskins.
So, as unlikely as it seems I could see the Giants coming out full of themselves and a little flat.

Yup, anything is possible, and the giants very well could beat us, im simply stating what we should expect to happen if you feel in the mood to expect anything from week one of the regular season.
We're the 3rd highest spread in week one, a point and a half behind the broncos over the titans and a half point behind the eagles over the cowboys.
6.5 is a pretty good spread for a week one division game.
As a fanbase We're definitely not as confident as the rest of America (minus a sliver of land in the northeast)
