Random Commanders Thoughts

So anyone familiar with South Florida? I am planning a trip and want to stay on or a block from the beach. I've also never seen the Keys or Everglades. But I don't want to stay in the Keys, it's really expensive and there are few if any sandy beaches. I just want to see them and experience a drive on that highway.

Originally I was looking at the Miami area. I could not believe the rooms were so cheap, some with decent ratings were $85. But a friend said it's too crowded and full of crime and to look north a bit like Ft Lauderdale. Those rooms in late Oct/early November (the end of hurricane season) were a bit more but still very reasonable. Maybe Hollywood?

Hurricane season isn’t really over until the end of November. Hollywood is a bit south of Ft. Lauderdale but still somewhat more urban, much like Ft. Lauderdale proper. I think that you would enjoy it more a little north of FTL.

Take a look at the Lauderdale by the Sea area and north to Deerfield Beach. Those areas are more relaxed. I would highly recommend Delray Beach which is in southern Palm Beach County. Great beaches and a broad selection of good restaurants/bars and shopping.

Head a little bit further north to around Melbourne or Vero Beach. You’ll get uncrowded sandy beaches and pay less then you will further south. Plenty of rentals available on or near the beach. There’s enough bars and stuff to keep you happy if that’s your thing. You won’t have a problem finding a place with the Sunday ticket to watch the football games 😁😁😁

I see that Dbag Mike Florio from PFT is starting to make a stink about Washington perhaps bringing back the old logo. He sites birthday wishes to London Fletcher in 2021, 2022, 2023 did NOT include the logo but in 2024 and again 2025 the old logo was on the birthday wishes. He writes that he doesn't care anymore yet he posts an article about it every few days. Hmm Me thinks he's worried that the old name REDSKINS and the logo will return under Harris. If only (y)

Yes on Delray Beach. I'm a huge fan and nearly moved there.

Bumble there is incredible, btw.

Melbourne Beach is also fantastic, but definitely much slower in terms of the number of restaurants, etc.

I really want to see the bluest, clearest water we can find so that's why I was thinking more south.

You beat me to it Redwolf. You want clear blue water, pick your Caribbean island
I know I know that was my first thought. Nothing more beautiful on Earth than the water of the Caribbean. But I do want to visit friends and see the Keys and don't want to deal with customs etc. Florida is close to that water, just need to know where.

South Florida is expensive. I have refrained on commenting due to this. My favorite hotel outside of Miami? The Diplomat

You can't beat the island I live on. St Croix is amazing. Water is as clear as vodka. You can see 40+ feet deep clearly. It's pretty incredible. The beach from Shawshank redemption is here. Lots of amazing beaches, all free and accessible, not a lot of people. You get the entire beach to yourself.

Super chill too. We don't do much tourism.

I don't know where my pics went but the Maldives was even better. The Philippines is similar to Florida though except there are 1000s of islands and boat rides from island to Island costs basically nothing. I'll be there in less than 2 weeks but probably won't be at the beach much. My wife is trying to be a vampire.

ChatGPT is learning…it now lists Dan Quinn along with Andy Reid when I asked the question. However, it now also includes Sean Payton for some reason, even though it acknowledges he has not taken the Broncos to the Conference Championship game yet.

You could probably ask it the same question you did at first and it wouldn't mention Quinn again either. Ai is also hard headed.

I don't mind continuing here if others don't.

I checked rooms in South Beach and then Hollywood and some others. I'm using November 11th or around that date. I'm finding the rooms are really cheap, a decent basic motel with good ratings was $84/night. Better options were no more than $150 which shocked me. Friends are in Orlando and Sarasota, the plan is to fly in and out of Orlando, stop by Sarasota and then go south to access the Keys and Everglades for day trips and to find the clearest, bluest water we can find.

I didn't know exactly where to put this, but I thought this was kind of cool:
John Riggins and his daughter being interviewed a few years ago watching a post-game interview from a1979 game against the Eagles. Riggins was 30 years old at the time but his best years were still yet to come.

The disrespect, I tell ya…

I googled this question:

Me: which current coaches in the NFL have lead two or more franchises to the conference championship game

Google AI: Andy Reid is the only current NFL head coach who has led two different franchises to the conference championship game.

That’s not right…so I went to ChatGPT:

Me: which current coaches in the NFL have lead two or more franchises to the conference championship game

ChatGPT: Right now the only active NFL coach in that elite group is Andy Reid — he’s the sole current coach to have led two different franchises to conference championship games.

Let me know if you want team-specific breakdowns or playoff success details!

Me: Your answer is wrong.

ChatGPT: You're right—my previous answer was off. Let's clarify. Among currently active NFL head coaches, the only coach who has led two different teams to conference championship games is:

Andy Reid

No other current NFL coach has accomplished this with two different teams:
  • Pete Carroll has only ever taken the Seattle Seahawks.
  • Sean Payton, Jim Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, and others have reached championship games, but exclusively with one franchise each.

Final Answer:

Only Andy Reid qualifies among active NFL head coaches for leading two separate franchises to conference championship games.

Let me know if you want deets on specific runs or how close others came!

Me: Your answer is still wrong. Andy Reid is not the only coach.

ChatGPT: You're absolutely right—there’s a second coach I missed! Here are the currently active NFL head coaches who've each led two different teams to conference championship games:

Active NFL Coaches Who Qualify

Final List

  • Andy Reid – Eagles & Chiefs
  • Dan Quinn – Falcons & Commanders
So yeah, it's not just Reid—Dan Quinn is right there with him. Thanks for pushing for the full answer!

It only got worse when I logged in again under a different email lol…this time it tripled down on itself and even had a slight attitude on the third response, like “how many times do I have to say it?”

After that third time I asked “What about Dan Quinn?”…it said he only made it to a Conference Championship game with the Falcons and said he was also DC for the Cowboys, and that’s it. It didn’t register that he was the head coach of the Commanders. I had to ask it who was the head coach of the Commanders, then ask the question a 4th time before it apologized profusely and got it right.

Effin’ A.I. lol…

Just one more reason that the fad to overuse AI in everything is troublesome.

OK, woah, woah, woah...
You've talked about cruise ships and murders there for years.
