Yep. You can’t underestimate the number of citizens who are against this on principle. Public $$$ going to billionaires is a non-starter for a lot of people, details be damned. Especially for the non football fans, they just don’t see the benefit of a stadium even if they’re being told it’s a solid investment for the city. People don’t just accept the word of billionaires and politicians when they are told it’s a good investment, they only want to look at where else the money could be spent instead. This is why we no longer play in DC and also why Harris failed to get his downtown arena for the 76ers in Philly.Yup, but the counsel is stalling the process to let groups like this muddy the waters. Why would current D.C. residents care about NEW homes for 20,000 working class families? Are they going to move into those new homes or are we talking about new residents that don’t live there yet? Bottom line, they just don’t want a stadium.
Hate to say it, but I do think this deal is in grave danger.
