The question is what's got more pull. Some councilmembers desire to beat their chests and act like they're doing this for their constituents or the economic reality/benefit of the deal and the majority will of the actual constituents.

Seems to me, a big part of the hang up is that a number of councilmen wanted bragging rights. They wanted to say "Look! I brought the team back." Since Bowser took that away from them, several want to now be able to crow, "Look! I got us the best deal!"

Yup, but the counsel is stalling the process to let groups like this muddy the waters. Why would current D.C. residents care about NEW homes for 20,000 working class families? Are they going to move into those new homes or are we talking about new residents that don’t live there yet? Bottom line, they just don’t want a stadium.
