The 2025 Offseason Camp Thread *Tweet HEAVY*

This Deebo is tubby narrative is case in point in “people will run with whatever they hear”.

He’s always been a thicker sized receiver.
Thank you sir. I have been trying to say exactly this. Im just not as knowledgeable or respected as yourself.

From George Kittle, to Brian Mitchell, ACTUAL players in the NFL, current or former, have said that the narrative is not real. That he’s a ‘thicker’ body type. That at a minimum you can’t draw a conclusion from the clip. Multiple local beat reporters said he did not look to be slowed, and people who have covered the team say even if it does look like he’s ‘slowed,’ it’s completely normal for guys to be doing this ‘walkthrough’ type drill at 3/4 speed.

If Deebo turns into Eddie Lacy 2.0 I’ll admit I was wrong.

I will also say I’m not willing to draw that conclusion based on a single video snippet taken at an awkward angle, while there’s also another angle of the same clip that appears to be much cleaner, simply because it’s been talked about on social media.

I mean this version of Deebo ain't peak fat-Eddie Lacy. It was really clear he suddenly put on a lot of bad weight.

At least Deebo's arms and face generally look the same. Lacy just got fat, and he ran like it too.

Thanks for this ST. Yeah, people need to calm down - good lord.

Being the catalyst that brings you all together to rally against me (and a bazillion others that don’t post here) brings a tear to my eye. Not often to see so many rowing in the same direction.

I’ll just say this, he looked flabby last year. Folks talked about it and he basically admitted it himself. From the photos he looks the same as last year. Perhaps he’s hiding a 12 pack under that jersey. Maybe it won’t even matter.

I don't think anyone is specifically calling you out although I did see someone giving you a hard time about your screenname - but I think most are responding to the general social media uproar about Deebo's apparent flabbytude. I think all many of us are saying is that it's overblown and he's always been a 'chunky' player. I don't see any reason to worry excessively about it, especially when the coaches don't seem concerned. It's all about what he does on the field.

Yeah Deebo has pretty much always been a thicker body type and IIRC he even admitted to putting on some weight last season (which is understandable seeing as how he was battling pneumonia). But it's not like he's in Eddie Lacy or Jamarcus Russel territory. I'm not really too worried about it. DQ talked about forgetting how fast Deebo was and I sort of doubt he's just straight up lying through his teeth.

He had pneumonia mid-season last year, his conditioning took a hit while he was out, his weight spiked, and numbers took a massive dive upon his return. His start to the season was excellent.

Bro has always had dumps like a truck. He’s back to his pre-pneumonia physique. This is a complete non story.

Oh get over yourself :ROFLMAO:

Fact of the matter is, Deebo has always been a big guy but people calling him fat are fans of other teams that want to see him fail.

You aren't a fan of other teams...are you?

Last year, he may have been given steroids (like prednisone) in his pneumonia treatment and his weight spike could easily be associated with that.

If Noah's injury was somethig simple, like an ACL or Achilles, wouldn't we have heard already? The fact that we are in the dark makes me feel like maybe it's something where the decision making is more complicated and they are seeking multiple opinions.

Don't make me take off my belt on Father’s Day…

I’d feel better about it if not for the rallying cry of every Ders fan pouncing that there’s nothing to see here. Historically, when we as fans get riled up to downplay a narrative, the results aren’t great.

Part of it may be that it's the offseason.

With a majority of the team basically "shut down" until training camp, they may not have the process and people in place to relay the info to the public. Nor are they probably worried about that.

Who knows? We may not hear anything official until training camp when everything starts back up.

Like Daron, Deebo will be in shape and perform better than expectations because it’s a contract year. I believe the coaches are smart enough to encourage this and I hope AP is smart enough to not bring them back next season for the big $ contract they may think they deserve.

I’m not optimistic about Noah. Like others here I think we should have some news by now if it were simple. Bummer.

The one counter to feeling gloomy about Noah is that the reporting rules are different in the offseason and some teams don't report anything they don't have to. That said, we know it was bad enough for an MRI and for them not to trust him to walk up the hill from practice.

Hopefully, it's a three-four week kind of injury and not a six-eight or season ending one.

They aren’t required to report on injuries this time of year, so unless something specific leaks or he wants it out, we may not know for quite a while.
