Yeah I noticed the drop off as well.

So we have been going to a farm party south of LaPlata on the Wicomico River for over 30 years every Memorial Day and New Years. We were the last to sleep outside on New Years Eve. It's been a mix of Montgomery County folks (she is from up here) and locals who always got along. Lately it's been far more locals, one time at 10:00 it was all locals and I wondered what I was doing there So we started doing day trips only on Memorial Day. Yesterday just before I packed the cooler that I had already brought down I saw on the list attendees only one local (other than the host) will be there and she is annoying.


So at the last minute we bagged it. I'm really concerned this may be gone forever.

Honestly, I used partner in this case because I couldn't remember if it was his girlfriend or wife.

I think he stuck around for a while. I can't remember who it was. Surprised that Boone doesn't remember it, but looks like Mark may. I'm pretty positive I didn't dream it up lol

For whatever it’s worth, I don’t remember it either. And I was there a lot.

I’m sure it existed. But I’m guessing it was in the tailgate and I didn’t venture into that rats nest that often. Mostly for the grilling thread, and from time to time the Star Wars and Game of Thrones threads.

I don't remember it offhand, but it sounded vaguely familiar.... I am guessing I missed whatever the main post was and most have read some later reference without any idea what it meant. Now I am wondering who the OP was.

My great-grandmother was Irish. She was a redhead. I was at an ES tailgate in Tampa. And this Irish girl was calling me a ginger. GING-GUH! She kept saying. She was pointing at me. Kind of like Donald Sutherland at the end of Body Snatchers. It was like she was accusing me of something. This was based on my red face. That makes me pretty close to 100% Irish, I think.

So I have a wild story from this week, too much to post here. Let's just say I went from being in an ambulance from the cath lab in Frederick to GW Hospital with triple bypass scheduled for the next day and a report from the hospital that implied my prostate cancer may have spread to my spine to 3 different doctors telling me I'm OK on both fronts and to go out and have a summer.

I actually kinda miss it, yeah i know it was a left wing echo chamber but i lean that way anyway so it wasn't hard to deal with it while holding my nose for some of it too but it was a massive block of content that was very time consuming.

there is something to be said though for not living my life constantly fearing things i have no control over.

i used to get 99 percent of my political information from e.s. then i would research the things i learned there for more sources to discern the truth but now im almost completely in the dark, my wife is constantly freaking out about the latest thing to happen while im enjoying a chimichanga and a beer 😁.

Ignorance is bliss!

It can be a tough balance for sure. There are times when the stuff happening is bigger than politics and should intrude into our bubbles. Putting our hands over our ears and pretending awful, real things aren't happening isn't good either. So, I'm not a purist, but I do have other venues and there is a need for an oasis even when things deserve our action (if you count raising awareness and blathering on the internet action). I'll stop here because anything I say to explain further will be too specific and tread on BGO's no-politics philosophy.

Just to push it a little. There are some topics that have somehow become political that shouldn't be. Vaccinations, I think, is a good, hopefully, noncombustible example. I do hate how topics of general concern or even common sense have become tools of propagandists and made into politics.

Okay, now I'll really stop.

We allowed COVID conversation here, we just didn't tolerate political discussion related to it. But yes, it is hard to find anything going on in the world that folks aren't going to immediately line up politically on.

I've taken this approach as well. The last 8 years were exhausting, I can't do it anymore. I do pay attention to what's happening and of course I have my opinions. But I'm not really focused on politics anymore and more focused on my life.
