There’s not much they could do at this stage that would excite me, and that’s because I’m ignorant on pretty much everyone left lol. At least he’s a plus athlete.
 
I’m still hopeful for a rb @245. Martinez or Smith would be great but according to sip this team likes Merritt a bunch.

Jonathan Jones, CB; depth at safety?​

The former Patriot comes over from New England on a one-year deal.

What it means: Washington needed more corner help to pair with Marshon Lattimore and Mike Sainristil. Dan Quinn typically valued bigger corners in the past but both Jones and Sainristil are 5-foot-9. However, both offer versatility as each has played inside and outside. Both are considered best in the slot, but this does provide more options. Jones also dropped to safety in some sets for New England.

What's the risk: None. It's a one-year deal so Washington is not tied long-term and Jones was considered a strong leader with the Patriots. Washington needed another leader in the secondary. The risk would be if the Commanders stopped looking for corner help. They lack depth and could use another big, young corner from the draft.

Just learning about Medrano, but yes, great athlete for sure. Apparently he was the fastest LB at the combine, and a converted wideout, so probably a good special teams player at least.

He had pretty good stats at LB, and we could use depth there, or maybe convert him to SS. They should find a spot for him to contribute.

He had 2 of his three 100 yard games early. But Robinson bounced from bad game to good game throughout the season. I agree he doesn't suck. He's IMO a JAG. So so. Some of that is on the O line. But he also had an offense geared to stop Jayden with RPOs-RO and it translated for same old same old for him.

I said this weeks ago. And it wasn't about taking a shot at him but more about this RB class -- IMO even the 4th tier group of RBs, the late rounders, has a bunch who I believe are better than Robinson.

Felt like a bunch of factors last year with Robinson… sometimes JD gave the ball in RPOs when he shouldn’t have, run blocking was bad, he got dinged twice, and honestly I’m not sure his skill set thrives in this shotgun-pick your hole type running game… he’s not shifty like that.

BRob shines in a more traditional running style (similar to D. Henry); QB under center, line fires off, and he gets his momentum started. In those situations he’s a good back and has good instincts and vision, but asking him to diagnose in shotgun and consistently make a man miss for big yardage isn’t his game (nor C. Rodriguez). That’s Eckler, and he missed a bunch of time last year too. McNichols does a good job as a backup.

And like I mentioned, I wanted a game changer too thats fits what Kliff wants to do, so yeah I’m a little disappointed but not upset we will be running it back with the 2024 crew. Especially with these new HOGS upfront.
 
Don’t love the pick still but reading up more on Medrano is that Ken Norton used to coach him. If you reference the AP presser from Friday he did say he takes a lot of input from the coaches and maybe Norton was banging the table so to speak for this guy. With his speed can pair up well with Reaves on ST and develop from there, hopefully
 
Medrano need A LOT of work learning how to wrap up in his tackles. He has good hands when it comes to coverage. Norton was with him in UCLA in 22 and 23.
