I'll start with don't take my list as my favs in order. Those are guys i like more than most. For example Stewart would be ahead with me over most of those edges I mentioned.
JT and Scourton feel boring. But I think they are being undervalued by some fans for that reason. I'll start with JT.
He hits me as a solid character, hard worker, likely a 7-8 sack a year guy and would be one of the best run stuffers at edge. He plays his best in big games. Massive arms. Play maker. Tipped balls, forced fumbles, INTs.
I also love dudes who defend the run with gusto. Where they are not just holding the edge but will pursue guys laterally or try to catch them from behind even if they are running on the other side of the line. He's also good at stopping QBs who are on the run. Elite explosion scores as to RAS.
You want a dude who will stop a big run from Barkley in the playoffs, this is your guy. Want a dude who doesn't dissapear in big games (hello Daron Payne, Chase Young back in the day), this is your guy.

No. 32: JT Tuimoloau, Edge, Ohio State: I first evaluated him in the summer of 2022. I think I got “prospect fatigue,” and my grade didn’t evolve as quickly as Tuimoloau’s game. He was flat-out awesome during his final season in Columbus, especially in the CFP championship run. In a draft lacking a lot of elite talent at the top, general managers are looking for surefire starters. That’s exactly what this guy is—a traditional 4-3 edge who will play every down. He might never be a double-digit sack producer year over year, but he’s a gap-sound grinder versus the run and an instinctive, disruptive pass rusher. |
Scourton, another it feels like boring player with fans. Another prospect fatigue guy.
I'll start with his production dropped last year but he only had 500 and change snaps. Compare that for example to Ezeiruaku who had almost 200 more snaps. In other words, Scourton would probably have had at least 3 sacks more if he played as much as some of these guys. His pass rush win rate was almost the same as Ezeiruaku.
And don't get me wrong I like Ezeiruaku over Scourton. But IMO i can see the argument for Scourton. Scourton's game IMO will translate better against the run.
Scourton is only 20. He was made captain as early as 19 years old. He's slimmed down to his weight when he played at Purdue where some said he would be the #1 pass rusher in this draft after that season.
33 plus inch arms. Thick build. Array of pass rush moves -- bull rush, cross chop, spin move. Hustles. Plays with energy.

Among the RBs. That reminds that a really surprised they never met with RJ Harvey. Captain. Super high intangibles. Do it all RB with breakaway speed.
Devin Neal, I've also read, is super high intangibles guy. Another dude they didn't meet with as far as I know.
TJ Brooks comes off too as a dude who would kill it in an interview. Does the extra things well including pass protect. They did meet with him.

I think my semi-ideal semi-plausible scenario is a smallish trade down into the early 2nd with like the Giants and still getting Scourton.
Then maybe circle back to CB or RB in the 2nd.
I do not trust the Eagles tho, they are plan ruiners 100000%. I hate how competent they are.

I hadn't realized they never looked at Harvey, that is super strange.
TJ Brooks I really like. NY the way, Wes Welker and Anthony Lynn played there...Ya never know! lol
Regarding JTT, he sure feels like an AP and Quinn type of player even more than Eze even though I like him more.

If Peters somehow managed to trade back from 29 to 34, getting 65 instead of some lesser pick, and STILL got a top 8 pass rusher of this draft, I may have to tell my wife that my stance of having kids has changed from DINK LIFE and we now need at one son for me to name after Adam Peters.

Of the EDGE guys being talked about as 2nd round EDGE prospects, Scourton is the guy I love. Seems all about football and the array of moves he has for a 20 year old shows an intuitive feel for the game. Doesn't have ideal athleticism but he could become a DE1 in the league given the feel he has for rushing the passer and the effort

Kind of the Jalen McMillan of this draft class but faster and had to be the man at CSU. That Colorado game in 2023 sticks with me. He, Fowler-Nicolosi and Kamara nearly pulled off the upset

There's a good chance they did meet with Harvey. Seems like there have been a lot of unreported meetings - Keim mentioned, for example, that they met with Skattebo and that had gone under the radar

They could potentially see Scourton as the Graham replacement. The one that would really scare me is if they took Luther Burden. Given Jahan has only a year left and sucked last year, Luther would make a lot of sense for them and he is the type of player who can destroy slot corners

Scourton reminds me of Trey Hendrickson. Similar size, speed, and power from what I can tell.
