The 2025 Draft Thread

I just trust 40 times less and less. Tuten posted a significantly better 40 time than Henderson, for example. But Henderson’s long speed looks better on the field and Henderson’s top speed during the 40 was the best in the class, I think.

Now that all of these teams now have GPS data on the WR’s and RB’s, CB’s, etc, I think the 40 may be less important for those players. I think it’s still probably pretty useful to get a 10 Yard split on these edge players and OL, who you never naturally get to see do that on the field.
Very much agree. Also there is no metrics for instincts which can trump speed in so many instances. It is the characteristic that I place great weight in especially for LBs and DBs that others can overlook as there are no metrics for it.

It surprised me just how few big plays Gibson could manufacture. I’d almost guess that BRob has had more.

Players also reference the difference in running with pads/helmet on, full gear, adrenaline, game-situations, vs the timed 40. It makes sense to me that the metrics don't always match what we see on the field.

not to mention it's comical that O-lineman do it. I understand the ability to have front line speed for screens and stuff, but at the end of the day you're not expecting your O-lineman to ever be at full speed that far down field.

There are so many other drills that can translate to that particular skill set that is not just a 'drag race' off the line.

Gibson is almost as disappointing as Matt Jones.

Metrics for backs mean almost nothing compared to production.

Darren Sproles was laughed at at the combine for being so tiny. He had a nice career.

Attributes certainly do matter, but it ain't everything.

I watched some Skattaboo and I am all on board there. 100% tone setting monster.

I would not love Omarion Hampton to the Giants at the top of the second. They are also rumored to be the landing spot for Abdul Carter. I’d rather have neither of those guys in the NFCE.

I got to watch the two back to back. Just The Tape, some youtuber put some prospects on where you can watch every snap of their plays, and I watched all of Henderson. With Tuten, I've not had that luxury. He does though in my opinion look VERY fast including taking a kickoff 0-100, when no one could catch him. Treveyon on kick offs looked "meh" to me.

Tuten had the best YPC in this class when not touched at the line of scrimmage. He's explosive as heck. He had one of the highest forced tackle rate in this group, easily beating Henderson on that front.

Don't get me wrong I prefer Henderson. Going by memory, Tuten looks faster than Henderson. But I'd need to watch them back to back. But why Henderson? He's more elusive in open space (ala Kaleb Johnson). He catches the ball better. Is a better pass protector. Tuten likes to juke his runs outside the tackles. Henderson runs much between the tackles which I think is a better scheme fit. But lol, if you played both runners against our defense -- Tuten would scare me more considering how much we struggled to hold the edges. The other RBs who would be nightmares for our defense to defend IMO would be Kaleb and RJ Harvey for the same reason.

Here is some of what was by the scouts on Tuten.

10. BHAYSHUL TUTEN, Virginia Tech (5-9, 206, 4.29, 3-4): Fastest back on the board. “He ran that 4.2 and you see that on the field,” one scout said. “He is the most explosive of all these guys. Runs hard, too. You get him in a crease or the open field and it’s over with. He’s the closest one to (Jahmyr) Gibbs as far as, if there’s a crease, it’s over. He’s in the mix as my No. 2 running back (in the draft).” Tuten’s vertical jump of 40 ½ also led the position. His broad jump was 10-10. “I’m a big fan,” another scout said before the combine. “After the combine things will change. He has a chance to run in the 4.3s. He’s talented.” Played his first two years at FCS North Carolina A&T. In two seasons, he carried 245 times for 1,578 (6.4) and 16 TDs to go with 41 receptions. In Blacksburg, he started 23 of 24 games, carrying 356 times for 2,022 (5.7) and 25 TDs to go with 50 receptions for 320 and four scores. “He tested really well,” said a third scout. “Not particularly big.... Returned 37 kickoffs for 25.7 and two touchdowns

Goodbye, your dominator % to breakout age ratio was already bad.

Priority UDFA for the Eagles tho.

Neither would I but I can't believe Hampton falls that far? Your point about Carter is pants-soiling-terror-worthy, though. Giants frequently have killer pass-rushing DL's and we rarely do.

Man if I have to watch one more mock draft on youtube where people do something wackadoodle with our 29th pick I will....do nothing, BUT I'LL BE ANNOYED.

NFLStockExchange with ThatFranchiseGuy on picking Jayden Higgins at 29 with Ezeiuraku, Mykel, and Egbuka all on the board (and Simmons too, since they didn't honor the Texans backstop).

I just...I would be VERY surprised if they took Higgins with those people left on the board. And I like Higgins.

Egbuka is the only one that would surprise me or upset me I think, but we already have 1 TMac on the roster.

Yeah but he's gonna be 30. We will need a succession plan sooner or later. Deebo is also getting older, and the rest of our options are anywhere from questionable to be a top 2 receiver (Luke) to definitively not a top 2.

I don't know that receiver is the right call with the tools we have on the roster at the moment, as they're pretty decent, even without a true #2 outside receiver, and given we only have 2 picks in the top 100. BUT within a year or two we will definitely need to address it in a substantial fashion.

Watching Dane Brugler on Take Command, he mentioned that a lot of teams are coming away less concerned about Mike Green. Exact details unknown, but sounds like a combo of maybe the allegations weren't that bad or were exaggerated, combined with him being raved about as a person by people at Marshall.

Still skeptical, but if teams are less concerned about him then he probably goes reasonably early anyway.

Here is my check list of potential roster needs heading into the draft in no particular order.
DE/Edge - at least a pass rush specialist if not a full time player
DT/NT - space eater to take on double teams, good against the run, rush capabilities a bonus
LB - backup/ST to learn from Wagner along with McGee who can only hope proves to be what AP thought and stay healthy
S - to compete for starter/nickel good in coverage and physical
CB - bigger good on the outside to compete for nickel/starter
T/G - big able to compete at RT or start at G
C/G - need a backup C capable of starting down the line and compete at G
TE - YAC guy may not be active early
WR - Outside speedster capable playing slot as well
RB - Stud all around or at least speed and needs to be able to be a receiver
QB - competition for Hartman with potential to become QB2 in the future
PK - competition
P - competition

Yeah, could use more everywhere, do you agree?
This is why I think we will see multiple trade backs so AP has the opportunity to infuse more youth/ competition and cap friendly contracts to the roster in later rounds. Rounds 2-5 have a lot of talent but I trust he can find gems later as well

Green for me is the best Edge after Abdul by a good margin. He's one of best prospects I've seen at the position. I'd love to get him.
