The 2025 Draft Thread

No, it was East West Shrine and Team Pro Day Meetings

Last year it was the combine as the key. If it was combine AND 30 day visit then we are cooking even more. Just 30 day visit with no combine, not bad, but not a big needle mover. Again assume this year is like last year -- but will see.

3-cone and shuttle scare me for sure . . . for an RB, lateral quickness if very important and those two drives are to test lateral quickness with burst . . . not a good sign IMO.

The shuttle is a decent score. 3 cone not. tough for me to worry about a dude though with an almost perfect 10 athletic score. Elite in so many categories. He has more zig and zang -- east-west movement skills IMO than most of his class. I was surprised he ran that fast considering watching him what hit me more about him was he was so elusive. When you watch him versus more of a straight line guy like Jaquez Hunter it really brings it home.

Good to know about the drops, I figured something had to be off in a major way with him.

I was looking at last year’s meetings earlier, and started counting how many players we met with at the NFL Combine. I counted 115 just on offense… I gave up at that point. Feels like something is missing as we have something like 14 reported Combine meetings this year? I suppose more reports will come out in the near future.

Also noticed we drafted 3 of our top 30 visits, and then signed another in UDFA (Dankwah). So apparently that’s the more telling meeting in terms of percentages.

It was a reporter who hit the point in a podcast. Can't recall but it was either Keim or Standig. That is, something like 70% of the guys they ended up drafting they met with at the combine -- the combine is the key. And then from there did they meet a 2nd time,

I went to look for their 2024 combine meetings and couldn't find it. 115 sounds like a mistake unless the site included informal conversations. It's the formal meetings at the combine that matter last year. You can only do up to 45 formal meetings. Yeah clearly all their formal combine meetings haven't been leaked yet.

He apparently didn't start playing football until late in his high school career, which is why he had to walk on at KSU in the first place

Interesting, Charles Davis has us picking Egbuka (WR-OSU) with our first rounder. With quite a bit of Edge talent still on the board, according to Davis' mock anyway, I would be disappointed with this selection.

If we stand pat and pick at 29, the biggest thing is it just has to be a stud. We fans tend to be more tied up in need than FO's do.

Not going day 1 but Stewart is a fun watch, great bend and his get off is great. If this team favors get off as Quinn expressed this dude has to be in the table/.

Skattebo's 40 time was impressive. If we were to trade down and get a 3rd round pick and AP drafted him in the 3rd, I'd be good with it.

Yeah guessing he goes somewhere in the third, maybe early 4th.

I haven't watched him in a bit but another dude who plays in that Skattebo style is Monangai who also plays violently. Isn't the threat in the passing game that Skattebo is. But he's a great pass protector. I'd guess 6th round give or take.

So many backs I like in this draft.

With his 40 time I would be somewhat surprised if he makes very far into the 3rd.

The biggest knock on him was speed. People were worried he was gonna run in the 4.8s. If he can run in the 4.5s, even if it's higher 4.5s, I think that erases the biggest issue with him. He just runs SO angry, which is SO important for an RB, that's part of what's hurt BRob is he just looked less tough in his runs down the stretch. That and Skattebo is a major receiving threat too. I've talked myself into being happy with him in the 2nd.
