I'd be very worried if we run it back with BRob as our main rushing weapon. Yeah the OL wasn't very good at run blocking, but it was clear that he not only oftentimes wasn't seeing the holes well, but was also tentative in hitting them and had very little wiggle or lateral burst. I also don't want to be in a position again where we have to rely on JD to be our main running weapon, because that could very quickly end in disaster.
If they don't make any meaningful upgrades at RB I have to assume that they truly believe the problem was mostly on the OL. I don't really buy it, but they know far more about it than I do. I guess we'll see.
I am not too worried that they do that. Judging by their meetings, which included Jeanty for some reason. RB is on their radar. Got little worries they don't take a new RB. My only worry is they wait until the 4th round. But heck even if they do that, someone like Jordan James ( a dude they had a formal combine meeting with) in the 4th is an upgrade over what we have.
But I get your concern. Brian Robinson seems to have an odd hold on both the last coaching regime and this one. Even though Rodriguez looked much better when coming in -- we still rode Robinson to the bitter end.
I know I hear he's a good locker room guy. And I get the theory of him being this big bruiser. But personally I am not a fan of the player and in some ways the dude. He's not even a good pass protector in spite of his size -- he's hit and miss at best at that job.
Two plays rewatching him, turned me off even more. A game against Dallas he catches a short passes and he could easily mow down the defenders for a couple of more yards but instead he gingerly taps his way out of bounds because he had no interest in contact. I was rewatching the Bears game yesterday and a Bears defender just ran by him with ease on a blitz, clean shot, Jayden being Jayden made lemonade out of lemons on that play by darting the pressure and running for like 8 yards.
As a dude, he doesn't seem like a bad guy. But he's easily the biggest braggart on the team. Before the Philly game, saying Washington is the better team -- giving Philly some bullentin board material. I can live with arrogant statements like that a little more if Robinson would show up against Philly but he sucks against them and almost single handidly lost that game, the one where he had two fumbles. And now recently, I noticed on social media him going back and forth with a Lions player where Robinson goes its our turn now for a SB.
I think Robinson being so "meh" has soured some of us on power type runners. And look I get wanting speed. I want speed, too. But I am not turned off on a player like Skattebo for example. Yeah Skattebo is more power than speed. But Robinson's issue isn't that he's a power runner. His issue IMO is that he's a jag power runner. Skattebo breaks tackles, breaks free, is much better pass weapon. On and on and on.
