Right, but tenure doesn't really matter as much as age. Metcalf just turned 27, so he's 2.5 years younger than Terry, who will be 30 at the beginning of this season. That said, he did have a career year, so I assume he'll probably still get a pretty good chunk of change.

What year did Kupp last play in at least 75% of the season?
What year was the peak of his Yards/Target and Success Rate
What is the age Kupp was for those and will he be next season?
I get that Metcalf is an overpay. But to think Kupp is an underpay? What? Come on man.

I don’t deny that he can’t stay healthy but when he is on the field he is every bit a #1 wr. For 2/3 of a season. The last 3 years he still averaged 800yds and 6tds in 12 games. 15mil per year is less than Christian Kirk making. Metcalf played almost full season and still averaged only 1000 yds. He is making double what Kupp is.
Mcafrey was injury proned before he joined the Niners too, but even at 2/3 of a season 15 mil is a good deal for a #1wr. He’ll be a #2 in Seattle and if they figure out a way to keep him healthy for most of the season that contract is a steal.

I had a hunch we might not return Fowler and Chinn. Gotta give it to AP - he’s playing it smart with the short term deals once again. He’s keeping our floor high with good culture vets, while opening up options in the draft. He’s adding competition (and therefore theoretically improving the depth), while maintaining a positive future outlook cap-wise.
Draft picks won’t (necessarily) have to be relied on early (taking pressure off of them and the team), and they come into a situation that is supportive, competitive and full of role models.

That OL quickly went from "kinda garbage" to a possible "dude they might be pretty good" and then Cosmi comes back.
Can't find the terms on the Beckton deal. That would have been pretty nice to get a guy we know is really good instead of hoping the guys they signed will be.
I believe that was his brother, Steelers OLB Nick Herbig.
He played at Wisconsin and was drafted in the 4th round, 2023

I see some articles saying 2 years and 1 that he plans to play guard.
I have a feeling he was looking for a monster deal and settled for like 2/20-24ish to get some guaranteed dollars and further establish himself as an interior guy outside of Philly.
I think you're right. Still awarding bonus points to myself for even remembering the name. Bonus points are not revocable and it looks as if I am currently in the lead with 79.

Man I hope we land one of Miller or Smith. I do not like where our Edge stands insofar as pass rush is concerned. None of our currently signed dudes is even close to a 10% pressure rate.
I don't lament letting Fowler walk too much (he wasn't at a 10% rate either), but we need a dude who can exert at least a little pressure. Fowler was probably a net negative bc if I was an OC and saw him out there, I'd tell the QB to audible into a run in his direction and let the OT push him 5 yards back, so no real harm or foul that he's gone.
If we don't get a real pass rusher, we are lacking a floor insofar as edge pass rusher is concerned, and basically our defense is gonna be hopeless in terms of getting pressure with just 4. We'll need to bring 5/6 to get pressure, and I doubt the secondary is ready to deliver coverage sacks non-stop.
If we go into the draft without that floor then we're really pushed towards drafting an edge at 29 and that'll warp out opportunity to go BPA and add the best talent. Now it's VERY possible the BPA is an edge, like if Mike Green is there as the Edge5, then awesome, but if he's gone, and we're onto to Donovan E. or Nick Scourton, it starts to get a little interesting because it's very possible someone higher ranked falls down to 29. Like if Egbuka or Loveland or Simmons make it to 29, are those 2 better as a player than those 3?
And I don't really trust the top 12 to make it to 61. One or more of them very well could, but if the top 5 are gone by 29, we're really only one run on the position away from the next 7 probably not making it to 61.
Miller's a little old and on a snap count, but 32 pressures in only 279 snaps is pretty good. Smith seems like he can still take more snaps, 63 pressures in 615 snaps in '24 would be something huge to add if he could maintain that in '25.

While I agree with you on this I am glad we will have edge players that can actually set an edge in run defense. We did not have that last year. Quinn can pressure the QB from other places if need be.

I think if you had asked me who I really wanted back after the Championship game I would have said Ertz, Wagner, Fowler, Noah Brown (pending health), Chinn, and Marriota. I probably would have conceded being okay with losing Lucas because of his age (though he's a great safety net as a reliable backup.)
We didn't get everyone, but we did pretty good.
What's interesting is that after a team wins a Super Bowl you always see attrition and teams heavily recruit the winner's free agents. I think, to a degree, we saw that with some of our free agents. Our prove-it guys proved it not only to us but to the rest of the league.

Oh absolutely. And why I'm not sweating losing Fowler. You know that Klingsbury is already scheming up plays where Tunsil just like carries Fowler 10 yards backwards for BRob/Ekeler/draft pick to barrel through 5 times a game 2 times this year.

I would have loved Fowler back as a 3rd down rusher. But yeah he is abysmal against the run.
It sure would be nice to be able to generate pressure with 4 though so we don't keep opening up weaknesses elsewhere.
