Tomlinson is for real who IMO some of those who love Payne among the fan base and local media think he is which is a dude who is good at playing 0-1 and stopping the run with occasional pass rush flashes.

I recall years back looking at this team's run game and rewatched with coaches tapes the games against the Giants -- I was blown away as to how Tomlinson could hold his ground against the run. though looking at PFF grades he's improved as a pass rusher but not who he once was against the run.

I have been a fan of Tomlinson since his college days. He would be a nice fit as a stuffer and cause pressure!

I still wonder if they plan to bring in a NT type or if they look more towards a guy like this would be a better option in the middle of he line

You definitely are not missing something… he pitter paddered and never hit the hole with any authority, unlike McNichols and Chris Rodriguez and even Ekeler … BRob plays unlike a guy who is 6’1 225lbs… plays very small imho

I was during the season and to be honest unless something changes on BRob part be a huge fan of McNichols and Chris Rodriguez playing a lot more

I think this says more about how average Robinson is than anything really positive about McNicholls or Rodriguez. If anything I'd like to see Rodriguez get more opportunities - I thought he shows some good power and burst in the limited looks he got last season.

But this is RB room that could use a significant upgrade.

I think we might be more pass heavy this coming season than last year though.

Some of it could be on the Oline not doing a decent job opening up running lanes too to some degree but I am glad that you saw what I saw, CTB. Thanks.

I at first thought that… then I even thought that Rodriguez hit the holes with authority unlike BRob cause he was attempting to make the most of very little playing time… but BRob also for a big guy tends to go down on first defensive contact too…

I think what AP and KK wants is a more balanced O. Our Oline is not built for power rushing but if they move Coleman to LG it may open up things.

It was nice to read on many of our explayers finding new homes with good contracts, especially Allen, Lucas and Chinn.

I expected we'd hear Noah I. being signed for sure.

After that I also thought either Noah B or Olamide would have resigned.

I imagine they are letting Mariota look around but I haven't even heard his name mentioned being looked at. If he gets signed elsewhere I imagine Driskel would be signed promptly.

Seems strange that we have so few RFA and ERFA, thanks Ron

Totally. Thanks what made it a little harder to see Lucas and Chinn move but age as catching Lucas and CHinn was set for a bigger deal than they wanted to handle

If anyone thinks that McNichols and Rodriguez have the skills to replace Ekeler even at age 29 are kidding themselves.

When Brian Robinson missed time we saw that McNichols didn't have the speed to get outside.

Rodriguez had more wiggle to him but is also a player that has his limitations.

Neither is a true receiving threat out of the backfield as Austin has been during his career.

We need a breakaway threat from the backfield, a guy that can take a handoff and beat the defense to the edge and 50 yards downfield for a TD.

That player is not currently on the roster.

Agree. We are going to draft that guy this year imo. It is the right draft talent wise to do it.

Yep, this draft is deep at defensive end and running back, two of the positions we haven't addressed in free agency.

Perhaps Adam Peters knows something

Can't imagine Zadarius Smith would cost that much, though.

Could this re-signing of McNichols and also the tendering of Rodriguez point to Robinson being a cut candidate in a handful of months? I’m asking that as I’m assuming we address running back somewhat early in the draft this year

I agreed with you, clskinsfan & Bulldog on a pass catching RB who can hit the hole quickly and bang out 5-7 yards or hit one for more. Marks from USC has some of the best hands for a RB (my favorite) and could be had on day 3 of the draft along with Bhayshul Tuten from VA Tech. There are more too besides these two.

Totally agree on every part, my comparison of Rodriguez and McNichols to BRob wasn’t they were the over all better back but that they provided what BRob didn’t in much less playing time… to be honest I’m on record as saying if Chris Rodriguez played as much and had the same amount of carries of Robinson he would have had a statistically better season… BRob is best use as a #2 behind a quality RB imho… unfortunately he’s our #1 as of now…

I thought Brian Robinson could be a 1,200 yard back and consistent producer for us but the 2024 season showed that he can't handle the workload of a Derrick Henry or similar feature back and misses time.

I agree when he came back from the knee sprain he may have been healthy but he was very tentative from that point forward in putting his head down and hitting the line with power.

The offensive line's performance declined during the back end of the season as well which only made that much more have to run through Jayden Daniels.
