The 2025 Free Agency Thread

I have been on record saying I expected that Dante Fowler would want big money after his 10+ sack season. I also expected that the Commanders would not reach the number he had in mind.
Looks like that prediction is true. It was easy to foresee the same for Dyami after his late-season heroics just don't wash away the rest of his career. That said, I would guess they made him an offer, but like Fowler, it didn't reach what he perceived as his value.

He was as motivated as can be last year.

Let’s see how he plays after the payday.

I mean if this is his "highly motivated" production, then I shiver to see how ineffectual he will look afterwards.

Half of his season sacks (2) were against us in December.

I worked with the off season builder- I spent about 15 million dollars above the suggested prices to more accurately replicate what is happening. For 51 players- already excluding the amount spent for draft choices this is what I got-

This includes signing Douglass as a CB for 15,000,000 a year- if it were Murphy instead we probably would be looking at another 8 million a year. We still have the money to sign a good CB and go into the draft looking at Edge and RB.

We can forget about Murphy, and probably another 5,000,000 for Kinlaw's first year- gives us 52 players

Because he's the top rated WR in free agency and his off year may let someone land him at a discount. He changed teams so that may have limited what he did in Buffalo but they are one of those teams that spreads the ball and doesn't feed an alpha. Why Diggs left IMO.

I highly doubt we find a WR in the draft that does anything of significance this year. To be honest my expectation bar on Luke is low.
 
Wonder if we should sign Slay for a few years- probably at a reasonable salary, and draft developmental CBs later in the draft.

For me it will always be Lavar.

He had Marvin Lewis and Gregg Williams as DCs and Gibbs as a Head Coach and he couldn’t get his head on straight and wasted all of his talent. He was set up to be as disruptive as any player in the NFL and blew it.

Gibbs was once asked if he talked to Lavar and he said something like “I talk to Lavar more than any player I’ve ever coached.”

At least with Chase, he has the “excuse” he was placed into a rotten situation with Ron and Jack, then had a very serious injury.

I put Lavar at the top of the list. And it’s not close.

Young might be second. But there have been some other disappointing ones.
