The 2025 Free Agency Thread

In a TE rich draft, I might consider bringing in another one to push Sinnott and be afforded the opportunity to learn under Ertz for a season. May the best man take over the reigns in 2026.
 
If we can accummulate more draft picks. Right now, I think we have a 1, 2, 3, 7. 7 .7. That doesn't leave us much room for luxury picks unless they really are BPA.

That and the apparently poor camp which several reporters referenced and Logan Palusen mentioning that he doesn't think Sinnott grows into an Ertz type player and from his observation he wasn't hot at following his assignments.

Maybe Sinnott has a big off season but for now it doesn't seem like the arrows are pointing up for him in a big way just yet.

I'd really like Bates back and to draft Taylor I think. Just saw a draft that had us taking Golden in the first.

That's a rock solid offense.

Happy that Etrz is back again. I love that guys really want to be here now.
 
The reason vets sign 1 year prove it deals is so they can get deals like Eriz and Wagner just signed. Both are a bit of an overpay IMO but we all knew both would be back. The cap space everyone felt excited is rapidly dissolving as they retain their players.

I reallly though Sinnott was the safest pick they made. Jayden could have busted but a guy like Sinnott, well I figured it would be pretty easy to find a role for him. Now there is just too much concerning information for me to believe they have a future TE in any capacity which really screws things up. I didn't figure they would have to draft a tight end again, and in a weak class that would have to be pretty early. A pick that could have been used on a developmental offensive lineman.

Yeah Bates isn't a sexy FA but he's one of the better blockers in the league. A rare good pick from Rivera.

It's crazy that we apparently went to three different sources and got three different answers.
 
dudleylaywikeer - not a Minshew fan? I'm looking (from the backup vantage point) at his career 63% completion rate, 2-1 TD to INT rate. Biggest knock on him is wins and losses (he's 17-29) but 4 of his 6 years he's been on awful teams (2 yrs with the Jags, and 1 each with the Colts and Raiders). I hope they re-sign Mariota because I think he's a good fit. Comparing the two guys, obviously Mariota gives you a player closer to Jayden's style who can still threaten with his legs. Minshew is a more prolific passer and has a better TD and INT rate and was a pro bowler in 2023. I think he's the best relatively cheap option out there if we don't re-sign Mariota.

minshew our backup-roflmao cause he sucks so bad.
 
He's probably not ready yet and may never be, but I wonder how close Hartman is to being ready to be a backup. Imagine the luxury of having a starter and backup QB on rookie deals.

If we don’t trade 29 for a player, hold on to it and take BPA because there will be a real difference maker there

How is that disagreeing with what I said? Taking a raw OT in the 4th isn't exactly what people mean by reaching.

Taking a OT that still needs to develop in the 1st with poor size is however.
 
I'm just asking specifically why you would be opposed to him if they don't sign Mariota. Apparently that's too big an ask.
