The 2025 Free Agency Thread

i would say that there is a lot of 'ideal' ways to build a team, but we can't be restricted by a thorough process. It's a fluid situation, and the best teams are the ones that can predict and adapt to what ends up coming across the wire. That may be free agents, that may be players available in the draft, that may be current players on the roster. I don't think we should ever limit ourselves because it's 'not the way we would like'. If the player is the right guy, we should be looking at them.

I wonder if we roll the dice on Josh Simmons if he's there at 29. Word on the street is he was an absolute stud before his knee injury. Don't rush him back, but he may be the cornerstone we need for that offensive line. Watched some film of him and blocks angry. Reminds me a bit of Trent Williams.

Laron Landry called, and he wants his arms back.

Not sure what he's holding here, but the guy looks like he was juicing.

Simmons falling to #29 might be a best case scenario.

You are thinking of Brock Bowers.

They drafted Mayer very early 2nd round two years ago. Bowers is what makes Mayer possibly available.

Mayer is very much a Y TE. He’s an old school inline TE who blocks really well and is a good receiving option short and middle. He’s a big target in the red zone as well.
Yikes. You're right. I was way off on that one. Jesus haha.

I'd rather bring Bates back than sign Mayer, but I like them both.

Bowers? He's probably worth 2 high 1rsts now. ols

Yeah, two key guys re-signed. That’s awesome.

Too much money for Ertz, IMO regardless of a 1 year deal. I hope he puts up numbers worthy of that contract. Again, he had a phenomenal year last year. I wrote in this or another post he's to the O what Wagner is to our D. He's back and many are happy.

I didn't see how the team could go the full day without at least one signing. There are way too many open roster spots, mostly due to all of our FA's.

In 11 personnel

Terry - Ertz - Deebo - ?

Coleman, Allegretti, Biadaaz, ?, Wylie

Daniels

Robinson.

Obviously need at least one new quality starter on that O’Line with Cosmi not going to be back for some time and Wylie being better as a primary backup than a full time starter. Need another outside receiver, ideally with real speed. An upgrade on Robinson at RB would be good as well.

O’Line is the area that really needs attention not just this year but over a couple of years.

6 mil for a trusted outlet for Jedi5 seems like a deal to me. Guess I’m crazy.

Yep I like it. Ertz has clutch component at key times & proved to be a high percentage target for JD.

1 year deal makes sense to me. I think he earned his raise. Like Bobby, vet dude is mentally tough - not shy to lead the expectation. Coaches love guys like him in the locker room
