Not saying you are saying otherwise, I don't think Quinn going for someone like Hendrickson is misguided. I would bet he really really really wants to improve the pass rush and I suspect even more so than the run defense. But I am gathering he's trying to slay both dragons.

Logan Paulsen talked up the value of adding an elite pass rusher to this defense -- he thought it was a key missing ingredient.

Not the 3 I'd pick at all. We are not up tight against the cap and don't have many high draft picks. If you need to improve your team at key positions (and we do) you're gonna have to do it in FA. Limited picks means less reinforcements coming in 2026. So pick players of high quality that have at LEAST 2 years left in them. Ertz and Mack don't fit that bill.
 
I hear you bowhunter - but you don't think Ertz and Mack have 2 more years of outstanding play in them? I don't see it that way. If you'd said 3 or 4 I'd be with you.

No sir I do not. I'm really not excited about either being plan A for 2025, much less 2026.

I can’t see that happening, I liked Ertz last season, specially down the stretch but I can’t see the Eagles moving on from Goodert and then bringing Ertz back… if that would happen then I’d be all in on Goddert (very under rated player imho) but I really want to see what we got in Sinnott myself… if Ertz is gone then I’m in the Ben Sinnott play mindset
 
Love both Ertz and Mack Boone and I don't think either have 2 decent years left. AP probably signs Ertz for another year in which I'd like to see him spend the $$$ elsewhere but Ertz brings leadership and football I.Q. on O like Wagner brings it on D.

Yeah, I'd drive the brinks truck to Philly to grab Goddert and then watch him hit 1,000 yards and 10 TFs next season.
 
Even average/good pass rushers are getting paid so those Hendrickson or Garrett (elites) deals in the $30's sounds about right. Regardless of who we end up with in FA, looks like they're going to be expensive.

I agree we should keep Tress Way. He is our longest tenured player, he is well-liked by teammates and fans, and most importantly, he is a great player. A left-footed punter is a commodity, and he is also strong-legged, accurate, a good holder, and a capable athlete on fakes. He really is one of the best in the business.

I imagine Peters and co. aren't depending on multiple years of outstanding play.

**not directed at your post specifically, just a general thought here**

We as fans need to stop thinking about every move in a vacuum. These guys are working in a 3, or 4 dimensional world.

A front loaded, heavy guarantee in 2025, even if it's a cap hit of $27M - $30M, he's instantly our best EDGE player, and he counts around 10 - 12% of our cap hit. For reference the table below is the top Cap % for EDGE players.

Front loading the deal let's you carry 'less' into 2026, which means a lower cap hit from Mack, paired with the inevitable raise in Salary Cap (it has gone up from $224M to 279M over the last 2 seasons) means that Cap % drops drastically, which means if there's a big fall off, the cap % is more in line with his production. Meanwhile you've bought 2 more off seasons to address the long term solutions at EDGE.


We have to also understand we're in the absolute BEST position an NFL team can hope to be in. Top 10 (arguably top 5) QB play on a rookie deal, and not just on a rookie deal, in year 1. We have a 4 year window to massage the roster that allows some spending to be 'higher' than it may be, if it's the right moves.

With Sinnott, I know multiple reporters including Keim said he didn't have, hot camp. Logan Paulsen studying the film suggested from what he saw Sinnott struggled following his assigments. He also said as the season progressed his snap routes actually decreased which he took to them trusting him les
 
Does anybody know when the "illegal tampering" starts? Date?
 
I would love to have Mack on a 2 year deal. He is still playing at an elite level. What the Chargers did well last season was manage his snap count to keep him healthy. They rotated him with Tuipolotu to keep him fresh. When he is in the game, teams have to pay attention to him because he can still wreck a game. Had 6 sacks in a game in 2023.

The key with Mack is it protects our picks so you could still take a great EDGE prospect at 29 to throw in a rotation and learn from him.
