The 2025 Draft Thread

Texas Edge Barryn Sorrell I thought was a sleeper last season but he stayed in school. He's rising but I think he would be a good fit for us. I may look at the DT's personally I think Walter Nolen Ole Miss is being a little overrated. I saw flashes at the SB but the game tape thus far has been underwhelming considering how high he is rated as a 3-tech DT. OG Jackson Slater handled him at the SB well. I really like him. Reminds me of Wyatt Teller a bit.

Alright, as I see it and yeah this is not a very good class I am in agreement. If I had to grade it, I'd give this group a C+. There could be some hidden gems though.

Thanks for putting in the work and sharing! Can you give us some insight into where you see the real value relative to our needs on OL and if there is a prospect or two where we pick who can come in and (hopefully) start or eventually start at RT for us based on your opinion? TIA

One day the Combine will be obsolete and no more and Pro Days will be the norm for player workouts and visits with NFL front office personnel and coaches. Call me old school but I liked when the players would work out at the Combine and it meant something rather than a publicity stunt.

So glad we still have Asst. GM Lance Newmark on the team for another season.

Same as used to do on the old site. I will post my top 8 at each position as I finish tape. Done with tape on RB and IOL. As always these are my ranks based solely on tape and my opinion on how their tape translates tot he pro game. Here are my top 8 at each:

RB:
1) Ashton Jeanty. Top 20 pick. Clear best back in the draft. Straight up beast.

2) Omarion Hampton. 2 round pick. Great size and speed.

3) Treyveoyon Henderson. late 2 early 3. Great size and speed.

4) Quinshon Judkins 3rd round. Good size speed and hands.

5) Kaleb Johnson. 3rd round. Size speed and hands.

6) Dylan Sampson. 4th round. Questionable top end speed.

7) Brashard Smith. 4th/5th round. TD machine.

8) Ollie Gordon. 4th/5th. Injury questions.

IOL. This includes players I project at G at the NFL level.

1) Tyler Booker. Top 25 pick. Absolute mauler. Great player

2) Donovan Jackson. 2nd round. Could be a pro bowl level guard imo

3) Johan Savaiinaea. 2nd round. Another player that will be good on the inside

4) Emory Jones Jr. 3rd round. Bonus he blocked for JD.

5) Grey Zabel. 3rd round. May stay at T. Not sure on him yet.

6) Wyatt Milum. 3rd/4th round. Will definitely need to move inside imo.

7) Anthony Belton. 5th round. Pretty sweet feet for big man.

8) Tate Ratledge. 5th round. Leaner needs coaching.

Should have Tackles and TE's done later this weekend.

I think I like them discussing speed in mph in addition to 40 times

Just ran a 4.69 40 at the combine. Not the end all be all for DEs, but that’s some serious athleticism, especially at 280 lbs
One of 7 edges PFF have ranked between 30-51. My aiim in a trade down scenario

James Pearce ran a faster 40 time than AJ Brown and Jaylen Hurts

One guy off the bat I think should be on our radar is Donovan Jackson Ohio State because he can play both inside and out to a high level. There are quite a few IOL types that could be nice fits for us. I'm not there yet though, finished 3-Tech DT's and need a break :)

As I see it...

Top 20 3-Tech DT’s

Donovan Ezeiruaku one to watch sneaking up. Testing well.

Flip side, Jared Ivey testing poorly.

Also Collin Oliver pushing himself back up boards. Guy testing great. Was ranked highly by lots of people before last season, now is routinely ranked after 150 if not 200, but 4.56 forty, 1.57 ten yard split, 39" vert, 10'6" broad. Very athletic.

3 DTS who were all somewhere between Day 3 and UDFA guys who showed up big time in the combine: Ty Robinson, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, and Jared Harrison-Hunte.

Guessing all three may move up a bit. No one but Ty likely sneaks into Day 2 if even that but might be earlier Day 3 with such good testing. Probably worth thinking of these guys in the 5-7 range if they're still there, Jon Allen is not long for the team and who knows what the makeup of things is in another year. If Payne goes the way of Newton after this year, even if we sign a guy like Osa this year we'll be looking for a 3rd DT to take solid snaps to spell the starters.
