Josh Harris Speaks... Commanders is permanent name.

Sell the team.
Bringing out the pitchfork....nice 😆

But seriously, his MO according to a lot of 76ers fans is aloof, arrogant, and detached.

Will be interesting to see what kind of reputation he garners interacting with fans and the media around these parts after a few seasons.

Not sure we know what that means.
I think it means the original colors. I think we're going to see burgundy over red and gold over yellow.

So far, Harris has been far from aloof and detached in Washington.

Two seconds can change that. And it did.

It’s not like it’s a first time sudden moment changed the entire perception of someone. For every action there is a reaction. As we won he got a positive reaction. Then he addressed a very hot topic in a way most fans would disagree and there’s an extremely negative reaction. Especially given that he has tried to give the impression he understands what fans are thinking. Which if he indeed does then he’s blatantly gone against their wishes which is exactly what Snyder did during the rebrand.

I think Harris is going to be a great owner. I just think he blew this one and has badly mishandled the name change issue. I would say that even if I was ambivalent about it. It went on way too long and he raised the hopes of fans in a way that really set him up for a negative response. Even if they were ‘researching’ the issue up until this season, and the ownership WAS looking at the viability of a change, the message could’ve been ‘we have no plans to change the name’ from the get go (which would’ve been the truth). If they ultimately did decide to change it, they are heroes to many.

Yes, some fans would’ve been disappointed, but they wouldn’t have spent 2 years hoping and hanging on every vague non-definitive word out of Harris’ mouth.

That’s a massive oversimplification, sorry bro.
Of course it is!

But it's underlying truth (IMO) remains totally valid.

The frustration that's felt here about the name (and in other threads about the jerseys etc. etc.) is valid but would be of a totally different caliber had the team been losing and finished at the bottom of the NFC. Similarly, we'd all likely be complaining about everything - and rightfully so.

That said, I still don't think what the owner is like or how they treat the fans (other than providing reasonable value for money for a stadium experience) matters that much. I very well may be in the minority on this, but I just do not care at all that Harris is "aloof, arrogant or detached" [and I'm not in any way coming at you formerly4skins or Riggo44 - just using your posts above as I think they're useful here] or really anything else as long as he delivers a successful program and isn't some kind of absolutely odious person.

The premise of my admittedly super oversimplification is that what all fans want, first and foremost, is success and a reasonable shot of maintaining that success. The rest is mostly (IMHO) at its core noise.

I get and respect that not everyone feels that way.

But again, when it comes down to it, what we all want is a Super Bowl (or taken down a notch, ongoing success at some significant level) and the team addressing our other concerns is really just gravy.

That doesn't mean that Harris is a good guy or should be lauded for how he handled the name issue. He fucked up. Full stop.

It's more that we should just not care as much about that element of how he's running the team (as there's no upside in doing so) and we should simply focus on the Ws & Ls (again IMHO) as the measure of whether he's a "good" owner.

Appreciate all of that Sol. Here’s the other obvious thing :co-obvious:… a big reason we are talking about this stuff ad nauseum is because the amazing season we all just experienced is over. Once the bullets start flying again, hell - even before that with free agency, draft stuff - this whole discussion will come to an end.

I’m sure many can’t wait.

come at me bro GIF

I can’t believe you just typed that.
