What Would You Like For The New Name Of This Team?

I thought about agents, too, but yeah, it doesn't quite work and Washington Secret Agents is a little long... though it could be fun to shorten to the 'gents.

You could come up with an awesome logo for Spies though or you could go very silly and just use the silhouette of a Moose and Squirrel (dating myself)
Ha ha I’d like to say I had to Google moose and squirrel, but I didn’t.

We could use these guys as mascots…

I only saw Bullwinkle in repeats, but some of their skits stuck with me. Enjoyed the Fractued Fairy Tales especially as a kid.

DC Pork?

Double meaning? And bonus we get to keep that awesome pig mascot!

Ugh. Never mind. I’m out of ideas. It’s still Redwolves for me.

... or to appeal to the younger generation... Time to welcome your Washington Squarepants!

Actually, that ain't the younger generation any more, but I wouldn't want to do something like bluey or Paw Patrol.

Maybe we could also go with the Washington Interns or the Washington Law Clerks.

Lobbyists
Useless trivia. The term "lobbyist" was derived from the semi-secret meetings that people used to hold after hours at the Willard Hotel in Washington DC. Congressmen would literally go there for a drink after session where they would meet up in the lobby to be schmoozed or to schmooze each other.

Similarly, though much older, the term gossip came from people attending taverns to hear the news of the day. When they wanted to know what was going on and who was doing what to whom, they would go-sipping. Go sipping eventually became gossiping.

This ends your useless trivia portion of the name change debate.

Also, the Willard Hotel, now the Willard Intercontinental, is still open and still is a place where the powerful converge to meet and drink.

Here's my problem with them coming out and saying, "Hey, the rebrand isn't done yet, but at some point, we'll be moving on from the Commanders name"...to me, at that point, they cease to sell any more merch. No one is going to buy Commanders stuff if they KNOW that 1-2 years from now it will be replaced.

For the Redwolves folks: If we couldn't be Redwolves, and after first saying it almost four years ago, I still think there's almost no chance we will be ... What's your second choice ?

I count 42 names so far. That's a lot. BTW, the poll is going to give folks more than one choice. I'm thinking three. Any opinions on that? It would be nice if the choices could be weighted too, but I doubt we'll have the ability to do that.

I was thinking about this also. For instance, is Braves even remotely possible? Most would probably say no, so does someone even waste a vote on that ?

There's also quite a few names that I think have zero chance of being chosen. Should those even be included ?

Football Club
Werewolves
Representatives
Revenuers
Underground
Duelist
Admirals
Warlords
Spies
Red Foxes
Lobbyists

We're not going to be any of those.

If there's a limit on the number of items that can be in the poll, then yeah, it matters. Otherwise, the polling should resolve the problem very nicely, I would think.

Edit: I just checked. It appears we can have a near infinite number of names and an unlimited number of choices. No weighting, that I can tell.

No offense, but I'm starting to have a tough time figuring out if some of these name ideas are serious.

What are the goofiest names in the current NFL?

I would say Commanders is one. Titans seems kinda dumb to me. Bills seems silly. I would hope our new name is less goofy than any of these.
