What Would You Like For The New Name Of This Team?

It's one thing if you try to name your relocated hockey franchise with a name of a very well known cooler company (see Utah Yeti(s))...but I'd be surprised if they couldn't have easily purchased Redwolves or other similar popular names a few years ago. And didn't Snyder own the Washington Warriors name for the AFL team that never happened?

The Commanders thing just seemed like a reach/cheap play at the time.

Exactly. The cost of a proper rebrand might have been an issue for Lord Farquad, but not even REMOTELY for this ownership group. I optimistically think they've put a team on it since day one, have done it properly behind the scenes with airtight NDAs so it doesn't leak during the process, and then they're going to roll it out this offseason, potentially with stadium updates to put us in an absolute fan FRENZY waiting for training camp.

One can hope.
 
It’s not a question of money at all. Chump change for them as others have mentioned. And they’ll actually sell more merchandise in the long run. I don’t know where Bram got that idea, but he’s been poopooing the name change all along and I don’t believe he knows anything. Sheehan on the other hand rarely reports things unless they are legit, so I tend to believe him. Only word that matters though is the owners, so hopefully they speak up soon!
 
Wouldn't changing to a better name such as Redwolves be more expensive since the team would have to pay more for the TM rights?

So that is relatively cheap except we did not have to buy somebody’s very expensive trademark. If we’re going to pick one of the names, we all like that is going to be necessary this time.
 
If we're going to completely sever ties with the team's heritage, we'd probably be wise to cut ties with the fight song too.

They have the money and the resources to rebrand to just about anything. Commanders was yet another example of Snyder's stupidity. I realize he was facing some pressures that seemingly came out of nowhere, but there were hints of this going back to at least the 1980s. And those teases as to what it would be were just tacky. Commanders will always have a sour taste.
WFT, Burgundy & Gold, Redhawks (my favorite), or Redwolves. Those are 4 damn good names right there. Those fellas at whatever they are calling Redskins Park these days should get a move on it.

Works for me. Jayden can change his number to 007. Not sure you can sell that one to the masses but Spies>>Commies

I was gonna say Agents too, but that has a very different meaning in football

I thought about agents, too, but yeah, it doesn't quite work and Washington Secret Agents is a little long... though it could be fun to shorten to the 'gents.

You could come up with an awesome logo for Spies though or you could go very silly and just use the silhouette of a Moose and Squirrel (dating myself)
