The 2025 Draft Thread

We officially pick (I think) no earlier than 26th now with the slimmest of chances for picking 25th.

I think this area is usually the highest traded area in the draft (someone correct me if I'm wrong). So everything is in flux.

Yep some teams will trade up to get a 5th year option on a guy. While I think there will be a player we all like who may fall to 26, hypothesis is to trade back to top of 2nd and scoop up another pick or two

These guys love Armand Membou. These guys feel he has the best tape of any tackle in this draft and will be dinged because he is 6-3

Do we have 5 starters on the OL? RT has been a bit of an inconsistent mess this season with injuries. Lucas is a FA and can pass block but can't run block. Wylie is meh in pass blocking and is banged up enough to be less than his usual OK self.

We have too many holes to say this or that. We still lack talent, it's just being covered up by a stellar QB.

IMO, only technically… there’s too much ‘just ok’ talent. In their defense, I think this offense asks a lot (ie too much) from our oline - reach blocks, 5 man lines against good fronts, lots of pulling, etc - although to be fair to Kliff, he also does a lot schematically to try to confuse defenses.

I think finding an upgrade for Wylie in the short term is going to be a tall task. The easier route is probably a replacement/upgrade for Allegretti and him stepping back into Deiter’s role.

With you on that. I think this is a difficult scheme to block for. Occasionally it seems like the penetration is from the OL thinking they need to get up to their actual assignment ASAP instead of securing the DT. Something does need to happen to make that easier, or maybe the personnel aren't quite good enough.

I can't help but feel like this team is overmatched in the trenches most of the time on offense. We need a major upgrade on the OL, and I'm hoping we grab an OT in the first and also upgrade at RB.

I'm not sure how much to worry about the ACL, but I LOVE Josh Simmons. The movement skills here are incredible. He moves like a LB. Twitchy. Great feet. The guys from PFF that do the NFL draft stock exchange compared his play to that of Christian Darrisaw.

This is a great watch on the OT's. It's long, but worth it. They put me more onto Josh Conerly of Oregon, who looks like an elite athlete and pass protector.

I think there is going to be an opportunity to significantly upgrade at OT in the first. And I wouldn't mind a small move up.

Also, since Kdawg brought up Quinshon Judkins, I can't stop seeing him with Jayden Daniels behind an improved OL.

Give me an offseason signing of Higgins, and Josh Simmons and Quinshon Judkins in the draft, and I don't care what other moves we make. That would be such a huge talent infusion on offense.

Would want a CB in free agency and a run stopping DT in the draft- DT could probably be picked later

Even if Lattimore recovers 100% and is a shutdown guy for us we still need to load up on corner. Sainristil is still likely to find his home inside and I don't think anyone wants to go back to the St. Juste experiment in 2025 opposite Lattimore.

The defensive line with the possible exception of Newton, who is still playing far behind other rookies due to the missed time, doesn't have any young players who have significant upside.

We desperately need a rush DE that is disruptive and has the size to defend the run and be a three down performer for us.

Inside, in addition to Newton, we need a really big ugly like the Bucs' Vea. A 340 pound beast that just destroys double teams and causes teams to change their schemes to compensate for him.

Of our current defensive linemen only Dorrance Armstrong rated among the top 30 at his position by PFF.

The scores for Payne, Allen, Sheldon Day and Holmes were dismal vs peers.

Just a guess but I don't see Quinn and Whitt going with St. Juste or a #5 round rookie at corner in 2025 opposite Lattimore :D

FA is full of decent CB's - should be an easy pick up. I hope a good OT falls to us in the first, a good Edge in the second, a good running back in the 3rd and a good interior DL in the 5th. WR and CB and we see what else in free agency.

I think you get the rush DE in round 1 and the right tackle in Round 2. That is if Peters and Quinn decide to keep Coleman at LT.

I don't necessarily disagree, OT looks pretty deep in the first two rounds and Edge is real deep in the first 2 rounds

Who do you think will drop to 32 in the draft?

I love Josh Simmons too but I think he ultimately goes top 20. I think Conerly and Banks do too. I’m hoping Membou makes it to us

With Bolles resigning, this year’s FA tackle class is terrible. Teams know they will have to draft to shore up their tackle positions
