Team name...Post it all here

In this JP interview with TE coach David Raih I couldn’t help but notice the graphic in the background. Though I have no idea what the entire message is…I did notice that ‘Wolves’ is included. Not wolves but ‘Wolves’. A conspiracy theorist may call that an Easter egg?

I did find this again after looking. Here was Wright’s explanation on Wolves.

The problem with the ‘names’ the team came up with is that folks who had no long-term connection with the team defined the list. They had this big joke of a campaign to solicit supposed fan feedback, but then had a finalist list that didn’t include any of what seemed to be the fan favorites. It was just patently bizarre. No Warriors, no Wolves, no Sentinels, no Redwolves. Hell, the only name on their final lists I ever heard anyone advocate for was Redtails. The rest were just absolute garbage. They could not have effed up the process more if they’d tried.

I will never be convinced that an NFL team, with all the resources at their disposal, can’t obtain the rights to any name they ultimately desire.

Because I think the truth is Snyder had long made the decision to pick Commanders because it was the easy way out. They had no intention of ever fighting for any of the names the fans wanted. Nobody had even thought about Commanders until near the end of the process. I remember first hearing that name from I think J.P. Finlay and everybody was like WTF.

Yep Boone , the entire choose-the-new-name process was nothing more than a scam and a ruse from the start. Snyder decided on the C word, and he and JW went forward with the pretense of fielding fan and other input.

I think there were also a couple of ‘Fan Ambassadors’ who were telling Wright what he wanted to hear as well. I remember several of them aggressively advocating for and defending it before and after it was announced.

I personally think Rivera came up with the stupid name - he has always been a military wannabe and it sounds exactly like something he would think was ‘cool’

Wrights got three more weeks here, and then he's done. I'm looking forward to Clouses' initial press conference.

What you are seeing is an old Cherokee poem.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson
about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between
two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil.
It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed,
arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies,
false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good.
It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute
and then asked his grandfather:
"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied,
"The one you feed.

Washington Cherokees is gaining traction. With "wolves" replacing "hogs" as an endearing nickname for position groups. All we needed was that picture.

I have never heard anyone mention Cherokees.

It would be great name, and they are native to the area, but I haven't heard anything about it either.

No way they go back to something that on the nose. If there are Native American ties it will not be that literal. I can’t believe they would go there again.

I don’t see any future NA references of any kind happening either.

I really do believe that Dan picked it because it was easily obtainable, but almost certainly Ron did not object. I imagine something where it was everybody just telling Dan “oh yeah, yeah, it’s a great name”

Didn't Chase Young, a franchise "cornerstone" player at the time, literally say the name Commanders is terrible on a livestream or interview of some sort?

Yes something like that occurred. He made it known he wasn’t a fan.
