Team name...Post it all here

Since we are not going back to the Redskins 😥 I like Washington (i.e., Washington Football Team). I'd also like to see them incorporate the old "R" with a Feather on it in whatever color scheme they would like as long as it was B & G.

Second choice after Washington or WFT would be Redwolves again with the "R" being signified with B & G colors.

I have been a big proponent of Wolves and Warriors, and I would also get behind Redwolves now. I also liked Spartans and Sentinels.

What I don't want is another name of a similar ilk as Commanders. I think the work that was done with getting the feedback from the fans on the whole "Washington Journey" thing prior to the rebrand told the story already. The fans were big supporters of one of those first three.

As for the uniforms, I would like to see the jerseys tweaked and the helmet back with a yellow guard. I don't know why they did away with the yellow guard. I think the black jersey would look much better with burgundy numbers, gold outline, and with the burgundy pants. The white needs to go back to something like we had before with the old Redskins white jersey. The burgundy jersey and gold home pants uniform they have been wearing as of late is the best combo we have at the moment. I don't like the all one color uniforms. I liked the Redskins color combination, and there was no need to go so far away from that with the original Commanders rebrand.

I like the W logo. For me that's the best part of the rebrand. I would be cool with keeping it if they managed to get the name Washington Warriors.

Fyi...

That W helmet is just total garbage.

At least do something like the old R helmet but that generic looking W sucks.

HOG has the resources to really knock it out of the park

I loathed Commanders. Pretty much refused to recognize it - didn’t say it, didn’t even type it. With my kid getting all invested this season, watching games with him and talking football, I guess I’ve grown accustomed to it. Or maybe it’s because the organizational change has renewed a sense of pride in the team for me. Of course, being 7-2 doesn’t hurt, lol.

The name just is what it is at this point in my eyes. 🤷‍♂️

(Totally respect why many hate it though!)

I think the fact that Commanders was imposed on this fanbase, with a fraudulent campaign that implied the fanbase would be a part of choosing the new name - all the while ignoring what the fanbase liked and pretending that Commanders had fan support the whole time. Such a crock and so insulting to our fanbase.

I don't care what a new name would be - as long as it has significant fan support. I just want the stench of the Snyder era purged completely and getting rid of that name is the final step in it imho.

I think it’s clear the main reason Commanders was picked is because it would cost Dan Snyder the least amount of cash to procure and made some sense as a name for DMV sports team. Anything else and you have to pay to play. Hopefully Football Zombie makes his way over here as well because he seemed to really have a good grasp of the Trademark considerations.

Can't stand the new name, still call them the old name, still wear Redskins gear. I'd be fine with something else, but commanders is so...lame.

It was honestly the final straw for me in the Snyder era, I only stuck around here because of the great people here that I wanted to support. Even then, my desire to even watch games had went in the toilet. This season has been a blessing in so many ways in that regard, and I'm grateful for what the new ownership, staff, and players have done for the team.

In the end, a name should be something notable that people can rally to, and "commanders" just isn't it. I hope they see sense and correct one more error of the previous regime, but in the end, the history of the franchise is still intact. Just quit hiding the old name for short term political reasons and I'll be okay in the end. The whole idiocy in Las Vegas earlier this year of obscuring the mascot and such is insulting to the Natives that created the art, so the virtue signaling it is intending backfires.

Just be at peace with the past, chart a new course forward, and people will fall in line. The Jayden effect is real, and if you sustain this success and people will forget all about the sins of the past. At least I don't constantly refer to them as Washington Team Football anymore.

I actually think 'Commanders' came out of a 5 min. Ron Rivera/Jason Wright spitball session. That's about how much thought went into it. Kind of like Ron's selection of Emmanuel Forbes in the 1st round.

I struggle with this as well because I have a young son who I’m trying to raise to be as big a fan of the team as I was/am. I have felt like I’ve had to embrace the name in spite of myself to some extent in order to help him get stoked for the team, accepting that it’s at least a possibility the name does not change again.

moving my post here.

To me the smartest move: retire redskins. Going forward, we will refer to us as Washington or the Washington Football Team. The rest of you (fans/media) can call us whatever you want (redskins, skins, the football team, burgundy and gold, whatever)

Then there is no new name. You can still call it the redskins as a fan. Nothing is replaced nor really lost. No need to worry about the history - it used to be the name but we don’t use it going forward officially.

The only downside is you can’t trademark that. And I would have thought overall net/net you’d come out better.

And I think that path still exists. And would be the best one. Reinstate the name and retire it the same day. Move on with it as a legacy product.

I would have preferred it if they had just kept Football Team, then sold it, and let the new owner sort it out.

Yet, naturally, Doofus Dan found a way to totally screw it up and piss everyone off in the process.

I am surprised that there wasn't more support for the 'Burgundy and Gold'. First of all, we already refer to the team that way. It's a way to keep traditional ties and wouldn't feel like a total departure from our past. And you shorten it to B&G it rolls off the tongue pretty nicely.

Then again, maybe I'm just looking for free advertising, lol...

I have been growing more and more fond of Werewolves. I think it would be fun to have the entire stadium howling plus you have the alliteration thing that's always fun. My joke name which I secretly love is the Washington Revenuers. The team would come out and instead of a W on their helment they would bare a big IRS. When we were the Washington Football Team, I thought we should have called ourselves the Teamsters.

But if we wanted an original name, I like Werewolves and Wyvern.

The league is probably saving Werewolves for the inevitable team in London.
