The 2025 Draft Thread

Thought I'd post this from Riggos Rag re: TE:

Commanders players whose stock is tumbling at the bye week

John Bates - Commanders TE

First, though he has primarily been a blocker in his first three seasons, his targets this season have shrunk to virtually nothing. Bates has been on the field for around the same number of plays as last year - about 50 percent of offensive snaps - but he has been targeted just seven times. He normally would get 25-35 targets before this season.

Second, Bates’ blocking has not been special. His Pro Football Focus score as both a run blocker and a pass blocker puts him at or below the league average.

Finally, although Ben Sinnott has not made much of a mark yet, you can expect him to get more attention as the season winds down. The very fact that a player like Colson Yankoff made the roster this year is an indication that Peters prefers the type of versatile tight ends he saw in San Francisco.

Who are the other 3? I just can’t stand that sites user experience.

Haven't read it, but maybe St. Juste and Wylie?

Wylie's stock was looking up at the beginning of the season when the line was performing well. Then, nicks started piling up and he started going in and out of the line up. Lucas held up much better than Wylie of late.

St. Juste may actually be doing a little better recently, but the fact that he's splitting time with Davis is a pretty fall far from grace.

Ertz is our second leading receiver and Daniels is comfortable with him. Your rookie being comfortable bypasses any other reason for anything, imo.

Tight Ends/H Backs generally take time. Not all, Bowers is on fire. But most do. Allowing him to be eased in is smart. I don't think it is ANY indication of ANYTHING as far as his ability or what the staff thinks of him... Other than we have time to let him grow and develop without throwing him to the wolves and letting him get frustrated.

Maybe he doesn't work out. But then again, guys who look great in year one can crash, too. There is never anything definitive until a body of work has been solidified. This is a 3 year evaluation, in my opinion.

You are going to be a better evaluator of this than me but he seems to be at least be showing that he can block and block in space. That's a useful baseline skill. He might disappoint given his pick status but think he is a guy who at least sticks on the roster

Surprised to read that about the blocking of Bates, I had always assumed that's why he was getting in so often. I understand that rookie TEs usually don't produce as rookies but his lack of snaps is a bit puzzling.

Not sure if this is in their head, but assuming the help is on the left side, the braintrust might have been wary about pairing a rookie left tackle with a rookie tight end to protect Daniels blind side so they went with Bates as the safer, surer help.

BSJ, TScott, Butler

Trent Scott was a penny stock before the season. Not sure how his stock could go down. I can see BSJ and Butler.

Arizona st RB Skattebo is a absolute tree trunk!!! It's my first time watching him and something about him reminds me of Jerome Bettis. I'm not sure where he's projected or even if he's eligible but damn I would love a power back like that

He’s just 215 though. Not sure that’s gonna translate to a Bettis type banger in the NFL. Bettis was 250 pounds.

He’s had a good year, but Big 12 defenses are, generally speaking, crap. Good burst, but lacks the vision and wiggle needed in the NFL. Think he’s a UDFA, unless a GM falls in love.

I am a big fan of Kipers orange crusher, BC's Edge Donovan Ezeiruaku. Dude has been a pressure production machine

PFF has him at 53 overall.

53. ED DONOVAN EZEIRUAKU, BOSTON COLLEGE

Strengths:

• The first step is both explosive and smooth
• Quick, second nature to use the rip move as a finisher to other moves
• Knows his arm length can be an advantage and uses it consistently
• Maximizes leverage to make up for lack of weight
• Consistent, reliable effort
• Good eyes and anticipation for the ball

Weaknesses:

• Tough for him to take on pullers and lead blockers
• Pursuit speed and explosiveness appear average-to-below-average

I haven't watched enough of him to be sure, but he has a bit of a funny body type for an edge. He's listed at 6'2" and 245 pounds. His arm length looks better than that though. Briefly looking at his highlights, he doesn't look like he is as explosive off the ball as I'd like for a player that size, but his change of direction does look great.

While I am far from making a deep dive on any of the positions or players, from what I have seen he shows a good motor, good instincts and has multiple rush moves. He will be a worthy day two player at a need position. I do not see him as a first rounder.

Seems like a lot of his sacks the QB had time and tries to scramble then he gets the sack. Would be great to see more clean wins from an edge.
