Ugh, no to Virginia. Virginia traffic without stadium traffic is already awful and much worse than Maryland (which is bad in its own right).

Besides, everyone knows Virginia is for lovers not football.
 
Probably not but Virginia has plenty of land that’s not Dumfries. Isn’t the RFK site assault and robbery central? If they go RFK it will be because they are trying to give the most vocal fans what they want.

The traffic will suck no matter where it ends up being. That’s like arguing which degree of VD is better.
 
They ought to survey their own season ticket holders. They are the ones who actually go to the games and it is their preferences that should count most.

VD as in Virginia Disease? More reasons to not build in Virginia.

Honestly, I don't care all that much. I go to one game a year at most and really I've gone to one game over the past five years. I think pushing it out into Virginia (I can't see Northern Virginia working out) would be too much of a schlep for most.
 
One thing I think is clear, namely that due to 25 years of Snyder ownership and a generation of fans alienated from the team, Maryland is now owned by the Ravens.

There is little point in putting a new stadium in Maryland. Yes, the Governor wants the tax revenue and growth coming from the building of a new complex, but Moore and other politicians favor the Ravens in everything they do.

The Commanders would be to the Ravens what the Mets are to the Yankees.

No thanks.
 
I have a feeling the make up of the season ticket holders will e a big change at the new stadium. PSL’s are going to change it up a lot.

In all reality (and the fact that Goodell is at these meetings is a major indicator), it's likely the stadium is going to end up where the NFL wants it to be.. nobody else. I imagine the NFL is intimately involved in these processes and decisions, and I'm sorry but the fanbase is not the one they prioritize when doing it. It's all about the money, and not just which jurisdiction is willing to fork over. The RFK site is likely the best option for the league when considering hosting a Super Bowl, an NFL Draft, and Prime Time games, the stadium being in DC is just the 'best' option. A bi-product of that is that Harris and Co can lease it out to March Madness, NCAA Bowl Games, Concerts, World Cup, Olympics... etc. Having these events in the Nations Capital is just logical, doing it in Ashburn VA, or Landover MD just feels off.
 
I’m a Marylander and I want the stadium back in D.C. on the RFK site. I think the best consolation prize for Maryland would be to move the HQ in Ashburn to the current stadium location which is less than 9 miles from RFK.

In addition to a new stadium the owners can design a brand new state of the art HQ with state of the art amenities. Stay in Ashburn until the new HQ is built then sell the land off. Make a long-term agreement with Virginia to hold training camp there at a locale to be determined.

I just drove from NC to MD, right near the stadium in fact. The traffic in VA is horrible and the worst spots coming north were around Dumfries. I immediately thought of the talk of that area being used for a stadium. I can’t imagine adding a stadium in that area unless they majorly overhaul 95 (which they should have done that 30 years ago anyway). If they do put it in VA, then they probably need to put it somewhere with Metro access to help with traffic. I know land gets scarce as you get closer to DC, but it will help tremendously.

I’ve always thought it would be in DC. All other DC sports teams play on DC, so it makes sense to put the football team in the city. I know there are other challenges to being in DC, which traffic is a big one there too.

MD to me feels like the fall back plan. I think they know they could get a deal done either in the current land or Oxen Hill Farms area. I haven’t heard any other areas being discussed, but as others have mentioned, a lot of MD has turned into Ravens country, so your areas are limited.

But I just think it’s going to be in DC when it’s all said and done.

No to my Virginia only because our traffic sucks already.

Much of Maryland has defected to the Ravens over the years but in Southern Maryland where I’m from many have stayed loyal to Washington.

Casual fans or old Colts fans who were left without a team in 1983 jumped on them when they arrived. Had Washington been at least competitive on a consistent basis since 1991 things might be different. Easy to switch over when the team who plays 45 minutes North of you is regularly in the playoffs competing for Super Bowls and generally do everything right.
 
Yeah, I don't really buy the Maryland is for Ravens' stuff at least not in any real, permanent way.

The reason? Ask anyone around me where they're from and they'll answer Washington. No one says Baltimore. So, most people in Montgomery County, PG, etc. have attached their identity to D.C. That means Washington is their home team. Further, if you look at the cities, it's mostly been a one-way rivalry. Baltimorians dislike DC, but DC doesn't really have anything against Baltimore. I think it's a big brother little brother kind of thing so fans of the Ravens won't feel like they're betraying their team if they root for Washington. It helps that they're in different conferences. Maybe a better example, I root harder for the Nats, but I like the Orioles, too. Part of that is that for a good chunk of my life DC didn't have a team and the closest one was Baltimore so I adopted them until we got ourselves a team. Then, when our team was doing better and theirs was doing lousy almost all my interest tilted towards the Nats. Likewise, for most of this younger generations lives they didn't have a football team (worth supporting). Stuff like that reverses fast.
 
Washington has had very little ACTUAL success over the last 30 years

In that time, the Ravens have won 2 Super Bowls.

I know that seems like a very basic conversation, but we haven't really done anything of note since 1991. We're approaching a 2nd generation since we've been actually relevant. Meanwhile the team in B-more has been a focal point of the league.

Add to that the fact that any logical Redskins / WFT / Commanders fan has had a level of sour taste in our mouth because we've been rooting for the scum of the earth for 25 years in Dan Snyder, why would we actually expect anyone to latch on to this team? The 'new' generation of fans are 100% going to be hand me downs because they don't know any better. We appear to be turning that page to the point where there is actually a level of pride, but we all know how it felt to defend ourselves about 'why do you root for that team?."
