This is complicated at this point and hard facts are difficult to pin down. It looks like the new proposal will be to offer nothing more than a ‘clean’ Continuing Resolution with nothing in it except keeping the government operating and money for disaster relief and an extension of the farm bill. Hakeem Jefferies already said that he is not only a no, but a hell no. So it would take every R to move it along and that’s a huge question mark.

It is clear that Musk has not read the bill as he quote tweeted a post in opposition to paying for the stadium. There was nothing in the bill to that affect and he quickly deleted that tweet. What was in there was about 2B to fully fund the rebuilding of the FSKey Bridge which was what Maryland wanted to remove their opposition to the land transfer, along with a plethora of other pork. There was also a pay increase for congress included.

Also reported the new bill suspends the debt ceiling limit for 2 years and now some Republicans balking at that. But F all that. Give us our home back in DC dammit!!!

Yep, there are, give or take, 20 Rs that are budget hawks and they will make things very difficult. Bottom line is that the land transfer is in hospice care and the morphine levels are being increased by the minute. Safe to say at this point that any hope of a new stadium at the RFK site is fading at a high speed.

WASHINGTON (AP) — RFK Stadium land provision removed from federal spending bill, a blow to the NFL’s Washington Commanders.

This is a coup for the state of Maryland (and Virginia if they choose to get back in the game). Harris, Rales, etal have to be crushed that they got to the one inch line but couldn’t punch it in.

Well no bill passed so we still got a shot. A looooooong one though.

Well the process starting over wouldn’t be a death knell for RFK. Just means it’s starting over, which delays everything, and yes that sucks.

Starting over with a new Congress would very likely take 12-18 months with no guarantee of passage. Those are dog years in the new stadium process.

If the team and DC leadership really wants the stadium to be at the old RFK site, it will be. Today's events will not stop prevent it imho. I agree that it opens the door for other possibilities. I am not opposed to other possibilities.

We don't do politics here, but I will say 'budget hawks' used to be called 'men of principle', lol...

Everyone wants to eliminate the national debt, as long as they can spend the money they want on what they want.

Which is how we got here :)

Isn't the 'spending bill' a stopgap measure designed only to get them through until the new Congress reconvenes? I would assume it's not the end of the road for this effort. There were lots of things in the original bill and I imagine while some won't get funded by the new Congress, some of them will. When billionaires talk, Congress usually listens.

I'm fine with it staying in Maryland. It's a long Metro ride and a long walk afterwards, but pretty good when it comes to highway access. DC is the opposite. The RFK site is amazing for subway and would be absolutely awful for drivers.

All said, my personal ranking would be 1) DC 2) MD 3) Delaware (just kidding... Virginia)

The RFK land transfer bill died when it didn’t get approved by midnight tonight. The entire legislative process will now need to be started from scratch under the new Congress.

Mark me down with fine staying at our dumpster stadium until RFK site is finally approved, no matter how long it takes.

We build a new one in Maryland or Virginia, 100% that RFK site will get used for something else and we'll never play in DC again.

Is what it is.

I hate when sports and politics have to deal with each other and it doesn't go well...it's hard to keep them separated in reality (not a request for politics talk here)

I agree 100% you hold off and hope that RFK can get back in play. That is what the majority of the fans want.

We wait

Landover sucks
