I get what you're saying, but to be brutally honest, all Jack Del Rio throwing Forbes to the wolves as a rookie did was make it crystal clear almost immediately that the guy had no business being drafted where he was. Him being done wrong and him having the ability to play in the NFL at any level are completely separate from each other. We have one of the best defensive staffs in the NFL and they gave him every chance to recover from his year one trauma. He wasn't able to do even minimally better in year two. I think you are being soft-hearted. Admirable. But coaches and talent evaluators can't afford to be.
The biggest wrong here was Ron Rivera thinking he was smarter than anyone else and drafting Forbes in the 1st round instead of guys who were 100x more likely to succeed at their positions. It is damn near criminal.
As Chris said earlier today, Forbes seems like a really nice kid. I will not feel bad at all if Forbes makes the Commanders front office and amateur talent evaluators like me look stupid and has a great career. I think the odds are extremely against that likelihood but if he can figure it out, that's awesome.
