Official Game Thread - Week 13 - Titans @ Commanders

As a basketball player I had many sprained ankles, they are all different. Some repair quickly, some don’t. My worst was actually casted for 6 weeks.
that was equal to a break. sprained and jammed fingers got me playing basketball. seems like i got one everytime i played.

I have broken a lot of bones in my life. I've broken all of my fingers at least twice

Listening to Quinn today I sounds like Lattimore playing is an outside possibility but most likely not. The interesting part was him basically saying that Sainristil will remain as a starter outside when Lattimore is a go. ( My interpretation of his comments.)

I think they are trying to manage him under the assumption they will find a way to sneak into the playoffs (or perhaps to ensure they have him for that final 4 game stretch that likely determines if they are in the playoffs). Giving him the extra bye week to heal is probably a smart move.

If he ain’t ready…he ain’t ready. Hamstring injuries are one of those that have a high incidence of reoccurrence. As much as I would like to finally see him on the field, better safe than sorry.

On the bright side, Lattimore should have a pretty good handle on the defensive system by the time he steps on the field.

I’ve been thinking a lot about our offensive struggles and I think I’ve landed on a somewhat counter-intuitive change I’d make. Run the ball less.
I say counter intuitive because with a young qb and issues in pass pro, generally the last thing you want to do is put the ball in their hands more. You want to establish the run in order to reduce 3rd and longs, and to loosen up the secondary. And of course, we’re struggling with pass pro too, which makes my proposition even more questionable.

With that all said, teams are stacking the box, and so stuffing the run, taking away a lot of the quick game, while also getting pressure on Daniels. I think Daniels needs time in the pocket to find guys down field (our guys aren’t winning quickly). Doesn’t have to be on deep routes, but at least intermediate ones. Seems to me we need to back defenses up to open up the ground game and the quick hitters/screens. I trust Daniels to find someone when he has time in the pocket. So, we use 6-8 man protections (including chip blockers becoming check down options) and PA to buy Daniels time. Added to that, I’d try to seal off edge defenders so Daniels has more opportunity to scramble (including throwing on the run).

Anyway, just my 2 cents

Interesting stuff. I think the fact that when we have HAD to go to the air late in games the past 3 weeks, that's when we've been most productive, not only because of the passing game, but because it opens up opportunities for JD to take off with the ball as well. Of course, some of that could be 'prevent' related but I do think that continuing to run up the gut for 1-3 yd gains gets to a point where it's counter-productive. I understand the philosophy, but the bottom line is you only get so many offensive plays in a game and you can't afford to waste them when something isn't working.

hey,is it true snow showers are being called for during the game? has jd ever even been in a college game in cold conditions?

Larry Brown had a fumbling problem through out his career, averaging 5 per season throughout his career. As good as he was, would that be overlooked in today’s NFL?

Thanks. And I totally agree with you. We’ve also had too many runs (as well as some screens) producing zero or even negative yardage. Conversely, giving Daniels 5 reads to go through when he’s under immediate pressure hasn’t been helping either.

Somewhat ironically, my goal would be to get back to what brought us success (offensively) earlier in the year - running the ball well and getting the ball out of Jayden’s hands quickly.

Running the ball is something Kliff has been consistent with. Running it well? Not so much lately.

Sunday’s game is not one that bodes well for an effective running attack. At least on paper.

Right. This is exactly why I suggested going pass heavy - to try to open up the ground game.
