I don't believe the name is changing any time soon--if ever. Something Harris said (along with the old name is never coming back, which the Name Nuts on X refuse to let go of) when he last spoke about the name: they're looking to unite the fanbase. A name search did nothing but cause chaos--the most popular that I saw (Redwolves, which was my choice as well), was reviled by 40% of the fans. The way I take that: they're going to let the name be on focus on what really unites everyone: winning. And so far, it's working--I've not seen so much commanders gear out and about in years. It feels good to be able wear hats, shirts, hoodies again. That's better than any name,
 
I get your point - I was never a 'Redwolves' fan because I view it as sort of a desperate attempt to keep us 'Red-something' and I'd never even heard of a Red Wolf prior to the name change discussion. I have even referred to Redwolves as a Pokemon name. But the truth is, if that had prevailed, I'd have gotten on board with it because it was a fan favorite. Commanders is no one's favorite. It was pulled out of someone's rear end, and imposed on us. Literally anything would be better than Commanders, and I think there is some consensus among fans on that.

Of course, eventually if the Harris group doesn't elect to go down that path again, fans will sigh and accept. My question is, is that really the best we can do? Wolves, Warriors, and probably a few others would be immediately embraced. It's 'Commanders' that is currently divisive. I also think the potential logos, uniforms, and swag potential with something like Wolves is off the chart especially compared to what they have been able to come up with for the generic 'Commanders' brand.

I am also skeptical it changes again though. I don't think the NFL wants it changed again. It all hinges on how much Josh Harris and the other owners hate the name. If it approaches the level of most fans, it will change. If it doesn't, it won't.
 
I heard a theory on the radio that makes sense: it’s something in their back pocket in case this rebuild goes belly up. They still suck in 2-3 years, they can pull that out to keep fans engaged.

They have nothing to do with the VAMet DC area but at least they look cool.

I have generally hated everything about the rebrand.

Hate the name (means nothing and is super hard to brand around. Case in point the awful Major Tuddy mascot!).
Hate the logo (lazy design! That W is the best they could do after MONTHS of time and god knows how much money spent?! Really?).
Don't 'hate' hate the uniforms, but they're definitely a step down from out classic togs. I like the white tops, but they look more like Cardinal's uniforms that Washington. Love the Black uniforms, but they aren't Washington colours. The Burgundy uniforms are the best, but they aren't close to being as nice as out classics. And I miss the stripes on the helmet and the yellow facemask.

Most important to me is bringing back the classic colours and uniforms. We had one of the NFLs classic looks, one with A LOT of history behind it complete with SB wins. But now... It's okay, but just bland. Meh. I felt we had the right idea when we were the WFT. Keep the colours, uniform style, etc and just replace the logo. We may have been missing the logo, but at least we still looked like the Skins of old. I have a McLaurin shirt from the WFT era and you'd be hard pressed to know it's not a classic Redskins shirt.

As for the name, I'd LOVE A good name that lends itself to branding. I'm a backer for the RedWolves.

The logo could be awesome. Keep it in the style of the old Redskins logo, and have an aggressive Wolf head, head up, howling! The name would fit with the Fight Song. The mascot could be awesome (and I'd pay to see a skit where they replace Major Tuddy where the new Wolf mascot just hunts down and butchers the pig...though might not play well with teh kids. LOL). As a brand it would play WAYYYYYYY better to the kids we need to encourage to be the new fan base moving forward (hey, kids! would you rather be a Commander or a Wolf?) The crowd could wolf howl at key moments.

ARGH The more I think about it, the more this crappy Commanders name frustrates me.

Even this 'Raise Hail' seems like a clumsy play on words to me. A clunky pushing together of 'Raise Hell' and Hail to the Redskins'.

If the team wins a SB in the next 3 years under the Commanders moniker/shitname whatever you wish to call it, it's never going away. Could I live with that for a SB win?? It's like punching yourself in the dick until it's numb but you get to bang the hot chick.

You've put way much thought into that analogy ... but I get what you mean. I think you are unfortunately right.
 
I think I could live with the name change, even if it's Commanders, but I'd rather keep our 'identity'. It's the totality of the rebranding that's really made me sad. Give us the classic uniform back and keep at least that link to the past teams alive.
 
We will never return to the Indian head logo, or for that matter, any native themed imagery. In today's politically correct culture, it's just not going to happen. I can't say I blame Harris and company for having no desire to wade back into the whole debate. So I don't know what you mean exactly Knight by 'give us the classic uniform back' - because other than getting the traditional color schemes closer to the historical norm, there is no way to accomplish that.

While agree it would be preferable to get the colors more accurate and representative, you have to have a name and logo fans love. I don't hate the 'W'. If we were the Warriors it would be fine. I think Wolves gives you incredible opportunities for an absolutely iconic logo. I don't know why they haven't already gone there as it is a clear fan favorite. Maybe they will.

Harris' generally ignoring the issue to date (other than acknowledging they know it's an issue while making it clear it's not a 'priority' is really my only area of dissatisfaction with him. It is a big priority for a large portion of the fanbase. There are many who are tired of talking about or even hearing about it. But the bottom line is that large numbers of fans DO care, and they hate the name. To ignore that - well, I think it would be a big ownership fail and missed opportunity.

I have zero idea what way they are leaning on the whole thing. Ultimately we have no influence on the decision so I try not to expend too much energy on the topic.

As explained above, these uniforms and colours just don’t seem us, except perhaps the burgundy. But even that pales to the classic colours and stule

Raised my kids to call them Redskins and now at 14&17, they still do and sing the fight song too. 😀
Warriors and Wolves, in that order, get a nod from me.

I gotcha brother. I agree, getting the effing colors right is a good thing. But that alone is a pretty low damn bar - that's all I'm saying.

I mean, seriously - how could they NOT get the colors historically correct? Do a HEX code search for God's sake. Pathetic.

You’re not wrong!

It is a low bar. It always felt like Snyder wanted a cash grab on his way out the door. Change the name, rebrand, try and get everyone to buy the new shirts, because otherwise we’d all just stick with the old style ones.

But now…

I figure the young fans aren’t buying the Daniels shirt because of the style. They’re buying it for the name and number on the back. They’d still buy it in huge numbers regardless of the style, so why not move back to a classic look and colour scheme to appease the old fans like us and appeal to both generations.

I’d buy a Daniels jersey in a heartbeat if it was in the classic style. I’m really hoping they do a throwback jersey at some point.

Just my two cents.

I don't require the name to go back to Redskins, even though it only changed due to monetary damage to the former owner and that fact ruined 50+ years of fandom for many fans, that truly sucks.

I'd just like it to be something other than what that clown decided we wanted after pretending to acknowledge our input, which was a total joke.

I'd be fine with almost anything else, just not commanders.

I’m not a fan of the name and would welcome any change. But what really bothers me now is that I have to hear them play Hail to the Redskins, but with some other lame words like it’s a bad parody. Rewriting the words to the most iconic fight song in the NFL was a classic Snyder/Rivera/Wright move. They were too lazy to come up with something new and just stole what was already there and tried to make it theirs. It’s awful. It bothered me the past couple of years, but the team didn’t score much so you rarely heard it on TV. I’m sure at the stadium you heard it more, but I’m also sure that the fans aren’t singing the new words. Now that they are scoring a bunch, you hear it during the broadcasts just like we used to hear Hail to the Redskins. Cutting out that lame song is an easy step they could do regardless of what direction they go.
